Late lunch at Wah Kee yesterday was laid back, relaxed and delightful.Famished from a morning monopolizing the empty Tong Fok Beach, our plan to lunch at The Riverine didn't materialize as they were closed at 2:30pm. So we ended up revisiting Wah Kee Restaurant, our favourite eat next to the Mui Wo Pier. Al fresco dining with the pretty view of Silvermine Beach can be so addictive. The restaurant obviously has its local fans, there was a continuous trickle of customers who keep refilling the handful of small tables throughout the afternoon.
We ordered a Seafood Set Lunch for $588. ( Could easily feed 3-4 people)
Ice cold Carlsberg (ice bucket provided upon request) with a huge steaming plate of Stir-Fried Razor Clams with Black Bean and Chilli Sauce really hit the spot. The service was adequate, and spacing between courses was well timed. Our next dishes were Steamed Fish and Local Lobster with Braised E-Fu Noodles. Both dishes were fresh and tasty (good wok-chi), but the seafood was obviously farmed, not wild. Stir-Fried Lettuce with Garlic and Daily Soup (Wai San Carrot Soup with Pork) rounded up our meal. The use of MSG was minimal, I didn't feel thirsty afterwards and had a nice nap on the ferry back to town.
Really enjoyable, will definitely return to Wah Kee!
