I went to 2 places today for cooked dishes, wanted to compare them but later on I decided not to because they are just v. different and it's not fair to compare them.
My 1st impression about Mido was, this was a very traditional, the interier design, the atomsphere... etc. all v. traditional, but when I looked at the menu I realized that it's trying to cover both western and eastern hk dishes. The price is high as you can see, some of the dishes you cannot find them in other restaurant with similar style e.g. abalone, grouper (石班); dishes like crab meat omlette is made of real crab meat, not imitated crab meat.
BTW in the menu here, "石班" really means that kind of fish, but if you see "班腩", it means some other fish, and corrrespondingly there are price difference.
I ordered the famous 焗排骨飯, deep fried rib, fried rice (the egg smells good), the source is tomato source, although I don't see any tomato, it's probably made of canned tomato source, but the n it tastes good. Somehow, I always thought of "Coo Lo Meat" with fried rice, when I looked at the dish, but of course, it tasted different.
If you're looking for fast food type of dishes, this is not the kind of restaurant, and the price would remind you, it's is not a regular restaurant for Eurpoean dishes either; if you're looking for something speical with the HK style and tasty, this is a something to try.
