Exploring Sheung Wan, we came across a small restaurant serving simple Shanghai dishes. The menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge.  They had a variety of items and included this value set menu which includes two regular sheng jian bao and a soymilk

We decided to get two sets. The sheng jian bao had a nice crispy bottom. The wrapping wasn't too thick.

The pork filling was flavourful with lots of juices ready to flow out.

One set we had was the Mini Wontons served with Chicken Broth ($54). There were 12 wontons in total.  The skin was so thin and smooth. The filling was moist with a nice taste of pork. The soup was delicate and really couldn't taste  much MSG. It also came with some vegetables.

The other set was Green Bean Noodles and Shredded Chicken with  Sesame Sauce ($54) as it was very hot outside and cold noodles are always welcome. The smell of the sesame sauce was so intense especially while we mixed it together. There was plenty of sauce and it coated each noodle generously. The cucumbers were fresh and crisp while the chicken was tender. It definitely wasn't stingy.

We added a Shanghai Style Pork Chop ($22) and it was served with Chinkiang black vinegar. The pork chop was super cripspy and not overly seasoned. The meat was still tender and juicy.

As we loved the original, we decided to give the Crab Roe Paste Shang Jian Bao ($18 each) a try. These were even better than the original ones.

Lots of crab roe was mixed with the pork meat. And the soup filling had a rich seafood taste. Definitely one of the better ones I've had in the city for this price range.

Inexpensive and decent food. Place was tidy and service is fast. I can see why Chow Yun Fat decided to give this place a try, too.
