Whenever I walk through the cooked food area of the wet market, I always see this long LONG line of people at this food stall. 九記牛什粉麵 (no English name) serves cart noodle. But don't be dissuaded by the lengthy line. It moves fast. The staff work fast, You literally hear the loud snap snap of the scissors as the man snips away at what you order. People also eat fast. They sit, shovel down their food and leave.Menu ... what can I say? There isn't really one that I could find though needless to sa
Menu ... what can I say? There isn't really one that I could find though needless to say, it's in Chinese only. However, on the wall, it says three items will only cost you $30 (no 10% service charge). Ordering you can basically point at what you want and tell them the type of noodle. Everything is fast so be prepared!
This is what I chose: chicken feet, pig intestine and fish cake. Yes, I like a little adventure. It was pretty good. The stand out being the fish cake. It was packed with the flavor of fish without being too floury. The soup base was ok. A bit too much MSG for my liking but then we're not here for healthy, right? The noodles I chose were thick and they were chewy without any starchy after taste.
Boyfriend chose daikon, brisket and deep fried pork balls, The daikon were awesome, soaking in all the soup. The brisket was mostly tendon so if you love tendon, then it was pretty good. Pork balls were ok. Noting really exceptional about them.
For cart noodles, I've had better but it wasn't too bad. It was definitely cheap. A large hearty bowl for $30. You can't get cheaper than that. And if you want something fast and will get you full, this is a good option.
