One of my clients decided to treat me for dinner for helping him out, thus he decided to treat me to a nice Japanese restaurant. He told me that there was a popular restaurant known for their grilled seafood. Their menu was very comprehensive, offering a wide variety of sushi, sashimi, grill seafood, rice or udon and beverage etc.
Shochu with prunes - It was mixed with soda, shochu and prunes. It was gassy and refreshing, easy to drink as the alcohol content was not that much. It has slight prune taste as well.
Sea urchin - It was placed inside its own shell, and seaweed was provided to eat with. Sea urchin was creamy and soft, melting in my mouth. It was flavourful as well. Scallop was sliced till very thin and was very fresh. It was chewy and juicy too.
Salmon roll with avocado - The portion of each piece was quite big, with the salmon wrapping the rice and avocado. Salmon was buttery and soft, and the sushi roll was fresh and meaty.
Giant squid - The size of the squid was really huge, and it took quite awhile for it to be grilled. It was grilled till the edges was charred and was chewy and fresh, like biting on gum.
Crab meat with crab paste mix egg - The staff took their time to slowly cook it, monitoring it carefully. When cooked, the texture of the paste was thick and creamy. It was extremely flavourful and salty, able to taste real crab meat.
Seafood fried rice - The fried rice was fried till flavourful and not sticky, every bits of rice not sticking to one another. There were alot of ingredients in it, such as prawn, squid and egg etc. It was chewy and fresh.
