My group of friends suggested to meet up at kowloon city for dinner, and since there is a big group of us, we planned to have steamboat. One of them brought us to Niu Jing Wong, which he highly recommended. Their menu was very extensive, offering a wide range of steamboat dishes, ranging from handmade balls, seafood, meat, vegetables and noodles etc. They offered set for group of 4, 6 or 8 person as well.
We ordered a jug of sour plum juice. It was quite thick in texture and was sour in taste, which helped to digest some of the food.
Surprisingly tom yum goong was one of their signature soup base. True to the reviews, the soup was very tasty and flavourful, slightly spicy and sour as well. It was so good that i drank a few bowls of it.
Handmade prawn and squid ball was quite good, able to taste that they used real quality prawn and squid paste to make. It was chewy and fresh.
Prawn dumplings were juicy and fresh in taste. The skin was soft and yet did not break off easily. It was flavourful as well, as it absorb the essence of the tom yum goong.
Prawn paste was equally as good as handmade prawn balls. It was juicy and chewy as well, able to taste the freshness.
Fried roll with seaweed - This was the first time i saw fried roll with seaweed in it. It only took few seconds for it to be soaky and it was soft and smooth, juicy as well as it absorbed the taste of the soup base.
Beef with chinese wine - Beef was very tender and smooth, almost melting in my mouth. The wine taste was rather strong, too strong for my liking.
