You know it's the season for hotpot when you no longer wear a tank top and get out. Though I'm never a fan of Chinese fondue, Hotpot Instinct does play its magic on me, making me eager to pay my second visit soon!It was a cool night with some strong breeze and drizzle. It was a cool night with some strong breeze and drizzle. Instead of going all the way to Chaiwan for some all-you-can-eat, I and my picky boyfriend chose to visit this newly opened hotpot place near home.

Just a floor up from a minimalist hall-front, we set foot in this modern decorated eatery. I particularly liked the futuristic kind of lighting and ceiling. Together with the pop music tunes (they played Animals by Maroon 5!!), this cozy place gave me a pretty good first impression.

The staff was VERY friendly and helpful!!! We were just showing our frustrated faces and the staff quickly came to offer assistance with a detailed introduction to their signature stock and hotpot i ingredients

We never liked fish. But this sea-bream soup was a delight of the night! - with no fishy smell, but strong aroma and smooth taste, which also blended perfectly with all other ingredients! (Well, not veggies tho. I like plain veggies more haha)

Our 2 hungry souls urged us to order 5 dishes in total. Meats were so delicious that they were no way like the other hotpot eateries in town!! (nom nom!) The texture was all tender and smooth - one can simply tell how fresh they were, and how high the quality was.

The sashimi platter, on the other hand, was not as good as the main. The wide selection of sashimi included scallop, sea urchin, salmon, tuna, shrimp and *mackerel (if I'm not wrong...). The colorful platter gave us the illusion of their quality - but after all this is a hotpot eatery! (so lesson learnt....)

HIGHLIGHT of the hearty feast!

This plump dumpling was really good at hiding the gems inside - Black Truffle has always been my FAVOURITE!! I could smell the strong aroma of truffle while my lips kissed the dumpling skin.. and once squeezed the juice mixed with sea-bream stock would conqeour your taste-buds in no time. Although I couldn't actually bite any truffle, the bouncy mushrooms and the soft dumpling skin made a perfect match!! Couldn't stop eating!!!

We felt a bit unhealthy after eating up the whole table of food (actually thirsty.. ), hence - the Sugar Cane and Imperatae Drink! Not too sweet but very cooling and comforting. Another must-have for hotpot!

On our way out, I noticed the beautiful display of Sake. According to the owner, Dewazakura Iciro Junmai Daiginjo (出羽櫻一路純米大吟釀) is the signature of the restaurant. There were 2 other Daiginjos (Premium Japanese sake, with at least 60% of outer grain milled away) - so tempted to try!!! 

Am SOOOOOO looking forward to the next visit, with a group of friends to try the sake and more and more and more selection of local produce!!
