My diet gives me very little choice. Some of the Thai dishes happen to fit my diet. There is only a handful of Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. That's why I keep dining there. But 4 out of 10 times I found the vegetables spoiled.

I took this photo when I had dishes for the first time. But as I ordered the same dish when I patronized the restaurant in another day, the vegetables at the bottom of the pot are almost all spoiled, including choy sum, carrots, broccolis, and beech mushrooms 鴻喜菇/白玉菇/蟹味菇!! When you taste them, it is so clear that they are spoiled. I came with a friend. She found that out on her own, and warned me, too.

Still, sometimes it is a delight to dine there, if we are lucky, because their chef is quite good. However, at those times when I found the vegetables spoiled and reported to the staff, it was simply a terrible experience: they appeared unbelievably surprised and treated me as as if I am the weirdest and most unreasonable customer on the earth - even though I had not asked them to replace anything or give me a discount. They always replied that it was impossible, because their vegetables were very fresh. They brought them fresh from the market every day! In the first a few times, their response really made me doubtful about my judgement, and I felt awkward and slightly traumatic since it felt as if other diners around all turn their attention to me.

I am not a person who like to challenge others and make a fuss about small matters. In fact, it takes courage for me to complain. I always needed to go through an inner process to convince myself first that I am not just doing this for myself, but for the purpose of hygiene and the health of other diners. So I always tried to speak softly - because my intention is to let the restaurant be aware and improve, not to humiliate them.

Sadly, the restaurant has not improved for at least a few months. Again and again, I came across the same situation. I started to realize that my gentle, private reminders do not seem to motivate them to change. That's why I decided that I need to speak about this publicly. Hopefully they will change. It is really a shame, because otherwise, as I said, they cook well.
