When I was only a few years old, I used to eat a lot of 龜苓膏 from 恭和堂, as the Cause Way Bay shop is close to my kindergarten I top it up with ten spoonfuls of granulated sugar (probably more ) and eat it like a jelly dessert.... With hindsight, I'm surprised my mom didn't stop me and think its unsafe for a kid to eat too much Chinese Medicine Afterall 龜苓膏 is named after its two main ingredients - 龜板 and 土伏苓.*******************龜苓茶 - There's a fair bit of fresh 土伏苓 taste, not sure about th

龜苓茶 - There's a fair bit of fresh 土伏苓 taste, not sure about the turtle shell bit. Seems like its reasonably loaded up with the right components.
伏苓膏 - Wanted to try this without the turtle's component, as an isolation experiment. Its a case of 食膏, 只有膏味. From the above soup, I gather 土伏苓 is reddish and carries a pretty strong recognisable taste, but there's none in this Jelly! And its set super hard. Even the texture would have failed my Kindergarten Desserts Test!
