Decided to go with a small bottle of sake and the 精選串串發辦 for $388.
Here’s what we had.
Appetizer: Cold squid bites in a citrus-wasabi sauce.
Tsukune dipped in raw egg yolk
-Angus Beef Short Rib
-Requested to swap the Grilled Eel to something else and was offered the Chicken Thigh, which was succulent, with skin crisped to golden perfection.
Kurobuta Pork Belly
Shishito Peppers
Chicken Wings- crispy skin, juicy meat, and just the right char.
Add-On: Beef Tongue
Grilled Rice Ball- perfectly done; crispy on the outside, fluffy within with a bit of mentaiko, and brushed with soy glaze. Served with seaweed broth.
Add-On: Chicken Heart- surprisingly delicate, with a subtle mineral depth.
Add-On: Tofu topped with an abundance of bonito shaving- my favorite dish of the night.
Add-On: 豆苗 wrapped in Bacon.
Dessert was a choice of Cheesecake or Matcha Ice Cream, both satisfying, uncomplicated end to the meal.
In summary: this yakitori spot excels in its simplicity and precision, where every skewer is crafted with meticulous care and premium ingredients coupled with warm and attentive service. Indeed a soul-warming feast of smoky skewers.
