I’ve seen this restaurant in passing before and wanted to give it a try as the decor inside looked appealing and I’m a big fan of Mexican food. However, we were a bit disappointed with the overall experience. To start, they did not reserve a table for us like we had requested in the booking. So we had to sit at the balcony bar table area. We had a set menu and was unimpressed by the portion of the food. The portions there were all quite small (except for maybe the “Mexican Pizza”, but I’ll get to that later.) We started our meal with the Ceviche Tostada, but the fish was overcooked, so that was a bit disappointing.
We also ordered their Watermelon Aguas Frescas to drink. It’s supposed to be like a watermelon lemonade, but there was too much lemon juice and not enough sweetness nor flavor from the watermelon to balance the acidity in the drink. It basically felt like I was drinking lemon juice with a twist of watermelon, when it should’ve been the other way around.
Then we had the Huaraches & Tlayuda for our main dishes. The taste of the Huaraches was ok but the portion was quite small. The portion of the Tlayuda or “Mexican Pizza” would’ve been ok, but it was so burnt around the outside of the pizza that we could only eat the center of it, so that made the edible portion smaller. The Tlayuda was tasty with a hint of spiciness from the chorizo, but we just couldn’t believe they would serve such a burnt piece of food to us.
For dessert, we had Churros con Chocolate. Though it took a long time to finally get our dessert, the churros was served fresh, hot, and crispy and the chocolate sauce was nice. These may not have been the best churros in town, but it was a pretty decent dessert.
