Just in time for their New Year promotion: red bean pie ($6)!Having read the good reviews about it I went out to get one before the promotion is over. The unexpected surprise upon my first bite was that it immediately reminded me of a 煎堆! The filling was more viscous than expected - almost a bit like red bean soup. The red beans were intact, not ground up - the way I like it. The flavor did not feel like it was loaded with sugar, but nicely sweet.
The only disappointment was that they did not pack it in a customized "red bean pie" box, I guess they ran out. As you can see in the picture, it says "hot pie". Oh well, it was meant for the bin anyway. A festive treat!
