When in Sham Shui Po, we often go to another place that serves Malaysian food. But as that place has become super popular and expanded with several locations, we tried another place. The layout and entire design of the restaurant was like the other one. It also serves the same type of food.Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge and you pay on your way out. Afternoon tea includes a standard drink or upgrade $6 to something else. I upgraded to a Milo Dinosaur as I saw a photo it had star cereal on top. I was curious if it would arrive like that. And yes! IT DID! It was pretty good. Very chocolatey.
We shared a kaya toast and soft boiled egg ($38). The toast was crispy but the kaya wasn't very fragrant. It felt a lot like the same kaya Toast Box offers.
The soft boiled egg had a really nice runny yolk. You flavor it with sweet soy sauce and pepper.
I had a mini chicken ho fan ($22). It wasn't as mni as expected. It had a layer of prawn oil on top. I also didn't expect to have shrimp but there it was. One piece. It was ok. Fairly fresh. The soup was light in taste and there was plenty of shredded chicken meat in it.
Boyfriend had the curry laksa ($48). This was not too spicy but also not very rich as well. There were a lot of toppings. All soaked up the soup well.
The food was ok. Not as flavorful like the more popular place. But it was fine and there is clearly not as busy as well.
