Recommended by my friend of this cute Japanese diner featuring their rice bowls, we spent Hong Kong's first red raining signal in this restaurant. Both hotpot meal covered a bowl of rice, a small side and a drink. It was in a good deal. The side was something similar to kimchi. Tangy with a little bit of spice.
As I only consumed my chicken pieces hotpot, I will mostly focus on my food. Food was served quick but steamy hot. Mind your tongue in your first few bites. Miso was generally more on the salty side while mine was well balanced. I didn't find it salty but I could just taste the miso flavour. The whole pot contained generous amount of chicken pieces and they were in good biting size. Chicken was moist but not overcooked. Even eating the last chicken pieces, it was still soft, didn't end up overcook by the hotpot. Hotpot consisted of cabbages, Japanese fishball, a crab stick, half an egg, shredded wood ears and enoki mushroom.
I didn't ask for a smaller portion of rice as I was starving. It came out a good big bowl of Jasmine rice. Of course I ended stuffed plus my free cold drink.
I tried few sips of my friend's teriyaki soup. It was savoury with a bit umami flavour. Personally prefer this soup base rather than miso as miso seems always and better pair with ramen.
Overall, not bad! More variety and toppings compared with the commercial ones.
