For the reason that we are going for some workout, we ordered something light. Not a fruity smoothie bowl, but a pesto sunrise toastie and a smoked salmon bagel.
As an all time bread lover, seeing their bagel choice was everything bagel seasoning. I immediately started drooling and foreseeing the crunchiness of its crust. Many may crave for a thick spread of cream cheese, personally I prefer a thin spread which can taste more of its flavour and toppings. Smoked salmon was a fatty one, not too salty but melting in your mouth. Every bite was crispy and seedy texture combining the creamy hint of cream cheese flavour merging with the slightly salted salmon, it was absolutely delicious. Capers and their few raw onions gave the sandwich bagel some tanginess and a spice kick. It seems simple but with a complicated texture and flavours.
Toastie maybe in a smaller portion than expected but pesto choice was actually heavy enough to just fill you up. Generous amount of pesto was spreaded on both ciabatta sides while sandiwching sun-dried tomatoes. Sun-dried tomatoes were on a salty side which my friend found it perfectly matched with the basil pesto while I believed it's too salty combining with the cheese. All in all, it was a herby cheesy sandwich with a little sweetness from the sun-dried tomatoes. Not bad.
We both ordered a cup of long black. One ice and one hot. The hot one tasted almost a burnt coffee bean flavour or just used boiling hot water for their creation. Ice one was on a watery side which understandable caused by the melting ice. It would be suitable for non-coffee drinker for a touch of caffeine.
It was a decent cafe with typical brunch food. A nice place to chill out. Even just sitting on the outdoor seats to look around the street, it would be nice enough to spend your whole afternoon on.
