My first review on Open Rice, and the first English language review for this place, Tsat Hay. I've eaten here with friends three times in the past few weeks and each time it has been terrific. The first two times, they were out of crab congee, which I'm told is famous here, so we ordered prawn and fish congee. I'm usually not a congee fan, but this was enough to convert me. They serve a lot of other dishes here besides congee. They do great stuff with pork (had fried pork short ribs, fried pork belly, stewed pig feet), great fried wontons (made with prawns, not minced pork) and my friends all swear by the marinated fish skin (not really my thing but actually kind of tasty).
There may be no English menu here but most of the staff do speak English and are extremely friendly.
Are the prices more expensive here than in other similar places? I can't say. I can say that we've done dinner for 8 people here with the bill coming in at just over $400. Saturday the bill for 4 people was $323, but I think the crab congee alone was $110 (and well worth it).
