I have been here a couple times for lunch soon after it opened and have always really enjoyed it, but going for dinner really took it to another level. As is typical with private kitchens they had a set menu. The menu had 5 substantial dishes and a couple of extras.

I got there before my dining companions, but was seated quickly. Once two of my dining companions arrived they were seated and we were presented with cocktails. The cocktail was a French Mojito which was made fragrant and special by the addition of elderflower liqueur. That along with a nibble of crab chip with a dallop of vietnamese pesto was a wonderful start to the meal.

The first course was a combination of rolls which included 2 pieces each of shrimp mango salad rolls, pork/herb/veggie salad roll, and deep fried imperial rolls with pork. A bowl of seafood pho came next. The chicken broth base that was infused with seafood and herbs was topped with a whole prawn, clams, and a poached quail egg. It was beautifully presented. We were then given small bowls of homemade cucumber mint sorbet to cleanse our palates. The following course was a grilled razor clam that was done just right. The seasonings were just enough not to overpower the delicate taste of the clam. Next came the Bo Luc Lac which is a usual vietnamese favorite of mine. It was out of this world here. The savory, slightly sweet, very umami flavor of the beef was achieved with a 20-ingredient rub according to the owner. He needs to bottle the stuff! The beef was on a bed of crispy noodles. The finale was 2 scoops of homemade gelato - one was saigon cinnamon and the other was vietnamese coffee. Both were divine and a perfect ending.

Overall this was a delicious multi-course meal in an intimate private kitchen setting. The owner is always there and is happy to chat about his creations. I'm looking forward to introducing other friends to chom chom and to get back there for another good meal.
