Fried pork dumplings were good and not overly oily as sometimes I fear. However, there wasn't much filling. It was mainly dough. Boyfriend wanted congee. And this was part of a combo deal that included a bowl of congee and lo bok goh. The congee was a minced pork congee. It was ok and not too thick. I hate thick congee. Well ... I hate watery congee, too. Alright to be honest, I don't really like congee. Boyfriend had most of it. The lo bok goh. It wasn't too good and way too much flour and MSG added. But then I usually find this with a majority of lo bok goh that is not sold during Chinese New Year. Steamed beef rice roll was fairly good. The skin was not too thick. The filling was abundant enough. Steamed beef tripe was actually really good. It was braised for a decent amount of time to be soft. The sauce was a bit spicy. Char siu bao was not too good. The bbq pork was a bit on the dry and chewy side. The bun was dense. Siu mai was ok though a bit too much shrimp added to it so the pork to shrimp ratio was a bit unbalanced. Steamed beef balls were pretty good. Not too much baking soda so that it at least tasted like beef instead of brown bouncy balls that are usually more common. Braised chicken feet weren't very good. The sauce was a bit too salty for me. Though the chicken feet were braised long enough to be soft. Fairly decent neighbourhood dim sum but a lot of MSG as my throat was super dry afterwards. The layout was very glamorous and definitely geared for doing banquets. Service was decent enough that you get from a neighbourhood eatery. It seemed they tried to be more friendly with the residents here.
