Sham Shui Po has so many new cafes sprouting up, it's really hard to catch up. Thus, every time I'm here, I try a new one. On this sunny afternoon, I decided to rest my feet at 順流精品咖啡 (English name: Cofflow Coffee). The shop had an old Hong Kong feel complete with it's metal gate on the front. The interior is chic with a gray and black decor. The shop had an old Hong Kong feel complete with it's metal gate on the front.
The interior is chic with a gray and black decor. The barista area is on one side and there are bench like seats on the other.
They also have a display of cakes that they have available.
The cafe also has an upstairs area. The stairs itself is very retro Hong Kong.
Upstairs, it's more quiet. There are photos of iconic Hong Kong placed here and there.
They serve a variety of coffee. And for those that are interested in hand drip, they list clearly what beans they are using.
Menu is in English and Chinese. There was no 10% service charge and you order and pay at the cashier. They offered a variety of coffee and non coffee drinks along with the usual cafe food items.
Boyfriend had a drink called 3 Mixed ($55). This was a matcha, milk and espresso. All beautifully layered one after another. The taste of the matcha was very strong. But it wasn't so strong you couldn't taste the nuttiness of the espresso.
I was opting for a regular latte until this caught my eye. Raw Honey Latte ($50). It said it used honey from a local shop called Raw Hong Kong Honey, using honey from the ivy tree, a tree native to Hong Kong. I was intrigued. The cafe used a number of items that were locally sourced. Rather rare where most places focus on using imported items, this place focuses on using what is already found here. The latte was smooth. You could smell the honey and it lightly flavored the coffee without being too sweet. It was just enough to lift the nuttiness of the beans used.
I had the Shrimp Pasta with Homemade Tomato Sauce ($88). The pasta was cooked to al dente. There were a good number of plump fresh shrimp throughout the dish. But the star was the tomato sauce. It was hearty and rich. There were bits of mince meat, making it more of a bolognese sauce. Portion was a good size as well.
Boyfriend had the Keto Steak All Day Breakfast ($180). The steak was well seasoned and cooked to a rare medium. There were slices of fresh avocado along with some salad greens dressed with a light dressing. The scrambled egg was fluffy and we found some buttery grilled mushrooms. I loved they also bothered to grill the tomato.
We made room for dessert and had a Cofflow Hotcake ($138). This was so pretty! There were fresh strawberries and blueberries on top with a scoop of creamy vanilla gelato. All with a drizzle of raw honey. The hotcake was light and fluffy. But the most surprising of all? There were blueberries mixed in, so it was also moist with the blueberry juice. One of the best hotcakes I've had in a long while.
Food was not only beautiful to look at but also tasted delicious. Service was friendly and the place was beautifully designed. Definitely one of the better cafes in this area I've tried so far.
