As the sliding door closed behind us, we found ourselves in a different universe, shutting the buzz out.
The restaurant is really cosy - with just one table for 4 and about 10 seats at the sushi counter.
The interior design is minimalistic and zen - which again reminded us of the local sushi places in Japan.
We arrived at around 12:10pm on a Sunday. I made the booking the evening before - waitress said the sushi counter was already full - Indeed, this cosy restaurant was full by around 1:15pm and yet it remained peacefully quiet - Rightly so, as I bet every guest was savouring his/her gourmet lunch!
We went for the $800 Omakase lunch set... which started with a light and refreshing salad -

It was a pleasant welcoming dish with the tiniest detail done with care.
Followed by another refreshing starter -

Personally I find this a lovely replacement of overly sweet plum wine served as a welcoming drink at some Japanese restaurants.

Silky smooth and again just lightly seasoned - might be a bit too plain for one preferring a stronger flavour.
It was good but would have been even better had it been stuffed with ginkgo nuts and mushrooms too.
Here comes our family's most memorable dish during this visit --- taste-wise though! : P
Our eyes were already glowing and it was so good that we forgot the name of this sashimi
(despite the fact that the waitress did explain to us patiently!)

Smoked just right - aromatically smoked with hay. Lightly seasoned with ginger, on point.
The waitress said these were smoked at their backyard with hay - not seared with a blowtorch as one would normally expect.
It elevated the aroma and the juciness of the lighly smoked fish skin to another level... yummm!

What a delicate piece of art!
Although we weren't at the sushi counter, I had a glimpse of the sushi chef picking up the seaweed, and folding it up in halves with crispy clear sound - again, fresh ingredients says it all.

Lightly pickled, freshness preserved - it's not the strong flavour type that's typically served with Japanese white rice.

The sweet prawns were particularly good!
And ta-dah...! The waitress presented the highlight of the meal - look at that toro. Enough said.
(Ohhh the meal has actually been so good that we didn't know the climax was yet to come)

The piece in the middle (金目鯛) is my personal favourite - naturally sweet and simple.
The piece at the back is perfectly seasoned with yuzu and lightly seared on point.
Having said that, we were actually even more pleasantly surprised by the other two pieces of sushi!
The toro was impressive but it didn't come as "wow" dish.

I am only deducting one "star" from the rating of this picture only because we wished there was more uni!

This Milk Tea Pudding is silky smooth and the sweetness is just right - not overly milky and thus the subtle milk tea flavour is simply on point It also changed my perception that Japanese puddings are often way too sweet for my liking.

All in all, my parents and I would give six thumbs up for this Omakase lunch - only because that's all the thumbs we've got haha! Honestly, we can't ask for more for a HK$800 Omakase lunch with fresh ingredients, careful preparation, beautiful presentation and great services. We look forward to be back again for the sushi counter seats!
