The turnip cake was the best of all dim sum. It had plenty of shredded turnips inside the cake itself thus giving it some texture. The preserved sausage inside the cake was good too. The fish cake was not too bad as well.
The spring rolls, fried glutinous rice balls and the chicken feet were nothing special. As you could see from the rather badly taken photo, those were really small but cost about $60 per plate.
The Abalone & Seafood congee was nothing special. Perhaps the conch, the abalone and the Chinese mushrooms were placed in the congee at the very last minute.
The noodle tasted like any homemade noodle fried with soy bean paste but was too hard and expensive.
The XO sauce fried with rice sheets were OK.
The Chicken Dai Bao (literally - Big Bun) was quite interesting and tasted OK. It's a traditional Cantonese "meal-in-one". The bun was filled with large chicken chunks, Chinese mushrooms, an egg and I believe some pork as well. Not many places serve this so if you haven't tried this before, it's worth a try (but maybe not at this restaurant).
All dim sum cost between HK$50 - HK$150.
The tea was completely tasteless.
The service was quite good at the beginning but because they had to clear the scene to prepare for a banquet, we were practically hushed out of the restaurant at 3:00 p.m.
Notwithstanding my rather harsh comments about the food and the service, the place was really nicely furbished. If you wish to impress someone who cares a lot about a cool environment but isn't picky about the food or the price, then it's worth a visit.
All in all, a nice place if you are interested in traditional Chinese interior design but not if you are interest in traditional Chinese cuisine.
