Lunch options, especially for dine-in, are indeed quite limited in Admiralty, and hence I have ended up at Thai Basil 🌿 yet again. We had to wait a bit this time around, thankfully we could keep track of the queue situation on the gulu app and the queue moved pretty quickly. We opted for a green papaya salad with squid and a green curry with chicken. We opted for a green papaya salad with squid and a green curry with chicken. Food was decent on the whole, papaya salad was fresh with a mild kick of spiciness and the green curry was hearty and comforting though I would have preferred a slightly thicker texture and possibly more chicken🙈

初次於太古廣場用膳,隨便挑了一間餐廳,想不到竟然不錯!飲品味道中下,不過食物質素有米芝連水準,比之前試過的米芝連一星泰菜,以及其他本土泰菜都要好。香蒜炒菠菜非常足料,而且炒得軟腍香滑,一試就知道有汆水辟澀味,炒的時間跟調味都剛剛好。其他食物的香料豐富之餘,彼此間不會搶去食材本身的味道,醬汁也調得不錯。湯品亦是一絕,是除「船仔」以外,個人試過味道最好的冬陰。當然服務及環境沒有米芝連水準,但服務也是不錯的,而且環境寬敞舒適,是享受下午茶的好地方。

Stopped for lunch the other time, and there were actually plenty of seats for walk-in during lunch hour on a weekday. The green curry fried rice with prawns was surprisingly good, delightful aroma of green curry and the prawns were fresh with a bouncy texture. The grilled pork jowls had a pretty event distribution of fat, and a nice touch of smokiness.

The definite highlight of the meal was definitely the Laksa, and of course their dessert - a delicious Homemade Kaya Egg Tart paired with Thai Tea Ice Cream.

Formerly located on LG1 of Pacific Place, THAI BASIL has recently undergone a makeover and moved to L1 in Late August. Dim lighting, indoor greeneries and cozy vibes makes it a good place suited for a couple’s night out, or a small group reunion. The restaurant has introduced new Northern Thai dishes and kept signature items that were loved by customers.


The calamari 🦑 & green mango salad was super appetising, the tangy and sweet mango was complimented nicely with the tender yet chewy calamari. Portions were quite sufficient for 2 pax.


The Thai duck egg 🦆🥚 were well-seasoned and flavoured, elevated with diced peanuts 🥜, fried garlic 🧄and chili oil 🌶. The egg yolk of the soft-boiled egg and its taste was super tantalising, and actually pretty fulfilling 👏🏼.


The mandarin fish 🐟 in this dish was wrapped in banana leaf, and this is one of my recommended dishes. The fish was super tender and delicate and marinated with mixed herbs and other spices for a hint of spiciness.


Desserts, I had a dilemma picking which one to try out 🙈🙈, but eventually nailed down to the caramelised coconut, which I did not regret for a second as soon as it was served. It had such a distinctive aroma of the caramelised pineapple, and a fluffy meringue which turned out to be a great combo😆 served with honeycomb ice cream, crispy granola and toasted cashew nuts, everything standalone would have been so-so, but altogether forms a beautiful dessert ☺️. I’m hoping to try out the homemade kaya egg tart with Thai tea ice-cream, sounds perfect.

用原個椰子製作🥥底層係椰青糕,中間係滑身嘅椰肉意式奶凍,表面係冰涼嘅椰子雪葩。
不過我覺得椰青糕有少少太硬,椰子味整體未算好強,相對一般。
