Tried their chicken burrito and kalbi taco. Burrito was good, flavor was on point but chicken was a bit dry and overfried, not unedible however. Taco was single tortilla, would be better to double it up. Kalbi had decent marinade but the meat would be average imho. Overall, very decent, fresh enough ingredients, only lacking in the protein quality. Will be back to try their other offerings.

Takorea is a Mexican-Korean fusion chain based in Atlanta, GA in the US that seems to have been around since 2012 at least. TaKorea (big 'K') is a restaurant with a suspiciously similar name and concept, which is ostensibly not related, and which opened last year in Central. The appeal of it to me was of course (a) tacos, but then also (b) a more coherent-seeming Korean fusion than Seoul Bros, which is alright, but, well, not completely coherent. I, shameless monster that I am, wanted the fried chicken burrito, but seeing as I was with my less monstrous significant other, we decided to get tacos and split them. Here's the menu item as pictured and described out front of the restaurant:And here's what I got:The first thing that's of obvious note is that there's some sort of gloopy white sauce on the tacos, that is not pictured on the menu, not described on the menu, and not apparently served in the past, as it does not occur in older pictures of tacos at the restaurant. I'm the kind of stickler who likes to know literally everything that is coming on my tacos, so I can decline it, if it strikes me as perhaps unwise or disgusting. I was very not impressed with the sneak-attack white gloop.Let's move on to the description. "Fresh assortment," I can assure you, is lettuce and carrots. But what about the shizo leaf and roasted garlic? None. There was definitely no shizo leaf, on my tacos or my wife's tacos. I thought that maybe the garlic could be hidden if, y'know, it was like minced or something, but one other patron, writing at the "Yummy Hong Kong" blog, describes the tacos as "accompanied by ample sliced garlic." As far as I can tell, the tacos are just made up. They bear no relation to the menu, containing ingredients that aren't on it, and omitting ingredients willy nilly. They bear no relation to past tacos made by this restaurant as photographed and described by other people. Why they conduct the pretense of having a menu that purports to describe the food, I have no clue. As Forest Gump's mama always told him, dining here is like a box of chocolates.Alright, the stars of the show were at least as-advertized. I got the kalbi beef tacos ($80) with additional homemade kimchi (+ $10) at spice level: Korean spicy, with a side of fries (+ $20) and a free coke zero. The beef was perfectly fine. In addition to the marinade for the beef, which was sweet in and of itself, there was an overwhelmingly sweet sauce on top. I highly recommend that you decline that. The difficulty with declining things that aren't on the menu (ugh) is in explaining what they are to the person taking your order. I'd try, "please, no gross sweet sauce, and if you could leave off the sneak-attack mayo or whatever, that would be nice as well." Who needs three sauces on one taco?Kimchi, in my opinion, is a nice add-on, as it fleshes out the veggies. There wasn't a lot of veggies on the tacos-- they were rather meat-heavy. Partly this was just because they left off the shizo and the garlic, but also I wouldn't mind if they didn't put more of the toppings-- onion and cilantro (and perhaps add in tomato for what is known as "pico de gallo")-- on the taco. The spice level seems to be effected by chopped red chilis. My taco was not very spicy, but that is also how I would describe "Korean spicy" generally. The fries weren't particularly impressive. Soft and mushy, and also lukewarm, I can't imagine them holding up to all the fixings for the beef or pork fries. Still, on net they were only $5. A soda costs $15, but if you get the combo with the fries, you only pay $20 with a free soda. So for $5 HKD, I'd say go for it. I only ate a few, but it's nice to have something to accompany the meal.Spicy pork tacos: also no shizo or garlic, and with added gloopy white sauce. The spicy pork was actually reasonably spicy, and since it was very saucy with the kochujang, they seemed to have left it alone with respect to the sweet purple sauce. As such, I was a much bigger fan of the pork taco, and would recommend spicy pork over galbi beef for any of the dishes. I might come back again. Maybe. If I did I would probably either get the rice bowl and forget the fusion stuff-- and I would get it with the spicy pork. Alternatively, I'd get the fried chicken burrito. But I would be very careful to make them tell me *everything* that was in it, and leave myself ample time to return it if it was missing ingredients or had surprise ingredients. Misleading menus rankle me. When you choose something to eat, you can't really fault the restaurant when they give it to you, unless they do a poor job. But when you don't choose something, or the things you chose don't show up, then you can fault the restaurant, and in this instance I do. I imagine the tacos would've been better, had they come as specified, but I can't really review those tacos, since they weren't served.

This is my go-to place when I'm having a bad day. My favorite is the Kalbi (beef) Taco, followed by the Kpop Chicken. Their burritos are the size of a baby and their rice bowls are great as well. There really is no dish you can go wrong with here. The owner is super friendly and greets each customer with a smile, it really does make the dining experience better when the people that work there seem happy. I come at least once a week, it's THAT good.

TaKorea:👍The as-always hot pot without ham but with shredded pork meat and kimchi , chewy noodle and rice cake .👅So far the best spicy kimchi base I've ever tried in Hong Kong . The Chewy noodle's portion is too small that personally do not recommend to add 😑Special credits to add 50 hkd respectively for 1 bowl of fried chicken and 1bowl of pork. Chicken is cooked in sweet and spicy sauce after deep fried , superb juicy and better than oppa chicken i think . The pork is cooked in Korean miso , succulent and nice too ~😊 Reminder: the pot is quite hot so best to go with Korean milkies😂查看更多

We were a group of 8 hungry friends and stumbled upon TaKorea on Wellington Street and fell in love. First, food is a Mexican-Korean fusion concept set in a casual/fast food dining atmosphere. The service is very friendly and accomodating. Restaurant is not very big and can not seat too many customers. But it is comfortable and a fun atmosphere. The server/manager was very friendly and was able to recommend many dishes and suggested amount of dishes to order for the 8 of us to share. We ended the kalbi beef tacos and burrito. Each uses a sticky-sweet Korean barbecue sauce, which most thought was great, some though a little too sweet.....but it is sticky-sweet sauce. Also tried the K-Pop chicken burrito....chicken was very crispy, a very nice burrito. We also had a side a Kimchi (apparently a family recipe) and also the TaKorea kimchi fries (Yummy!!)....fries covered with spicy pork and cheese and sweet korean sauce. We really really liked the Kimchi fries. And of course a few Korean Hite beers to accompany the dishes. Thanks for a great dinner. We will be back soon! Highly recommended.
