Summary: Price point a bit high but that's justified by big(er) portion. Chicken rice is the highlight while other things (that we got) aren't that great.The Goods: Spacious & new fit-out. Polite service staffs. Good portion. The Bads: (one of) the sauce for Hai Nan chicken is a bit weird. Damage: We (2 persons) ordered one main each and shared 2 sides and the bill came to HKD215 (no +10% SC), or HKD107.5 per person. A note is if you only order a main then it's HKD88 (and will be reasonably full

A colleague mentioned this chain has been expanding to a lot of places in recent months, and so we decided to give this one in Causeway Bay a shot. We arrived at around 12:30pm and saw a lot of people waiting for takeaway, and we were the first in the queue for eat in. The shop is clean and spacious (also because it's totally newly fitted). Overall for food, I think Hai Nan chicken rice is probably their best dish (granted we didn't order any other mains), since their other 2 side dishes are just so-so.

What we ordered;
As the name of the restaurant suggests, we both ordered Hai Nan chicken rice at HKD88. Despite the price, chicken portion is quite big. The funny thing is I think rice portion is a bit too small for the amount of chicken - totally opposite to the other restaurants in Hong Kong. Overall, I think the dish is good but also not amazing. Chicken is moist but for some reason I think it's a bit chewy. The sauce that comes with it is actually a nice touch, reminds me a bit of drunken chicken but not as much alcohol. The rice is ok for me. Personally I think the garlic in the rice is too much fried, and as said I think the portion for this one is a bit off. The sauces are quite standard; sweet soy sauce, spicy and sour sauce, and ginger/oil sauce. The ginger/oil sauce taste a bit weird. My HK colleague said they might use a different type of ginger. Personally I don't like this sauce. The other sauces are fine/standard. The soup is literally just chicken stock & some winter melon - nothing special here, but I would say the chicken essence is quite strong.

We also ordered 2 sides to share. Individually they're about HKD18 - 32, but they have a promotion of any 2 sides for HKD39, and we took that deal. We ordered Malaysian Style Pandan Kaya Toast at HKD22 (if ordered separately). I would not really recommend this one as there is another shop that can do a lot better. The toast is not very crispy and the kaya doesn't have so much pandan taste. Not to mention this suppose to be dessert but they just serve it right away, but even so the butter never melted and I think it's either 1) it's fake butter (which is unlikely) or 2) the toast is not hot to begin with.

The other side we ordered was Deep Fried Fish Cake at HKD28 (if ordered separately). I forgot to take photo but there are 4 pieces of the size of about 1.5 inch diameter. I'm pretty sure this is Thai style, and if so it's a bit too soft to be it, but it's not bad. The flavour could be spicier in my view but I will give that they toned it down for HK palate. It is served with Thai sweet chili sauce (noting special about that). It's good but also not amazing, you can order if you want some extra snack.

That's about it, and as usual below are the menu photos.
