Christmas is that time of year when I'm in the look out for beautiful and sometimes adorable Christmas themed food. I continue on my Christmas food finds with cake. And big ones!
All looked really pretty but I wanted a small one for dessert after dinner so I bought something called The Gentlesnowman ($48).
Here I take my cute snowman cake home. He definitely is cute? The hat, hands, buttons and bowtie are made of chocolate.
The cake is actually two round vanilla mousse based cakes stuck together. There is a center of raspberry mousse. It tasted ok. It had a spongy consistency. I think the center could have been more gel or even custard based would have taken it up a notch but otherwise it was fine. For the first Christmas cake of the season, it did it's job of being cute for me though it tasted like something I'd find at Maxim's.
