Today we came to Akira Back, under the famous Korean chef and restaurateur of the same name, which was recently opened in the iconic The Henderson at Admiralty, for its fusion Korean Japanese cuisine. Stepping out of the elevator, the artistic design of the chocolate-brown entrance, and the contrasting white marble floor already drew a gasp of awe.We were seated at a table on the window side, looking down to the building lobby one floor below. The décor here is truly sensational, with every single element, from the ceiling, lighting, and wall panels to tabletop and tiles on the floor, all creating a special ambience which is comfortable and chic at the same time.As I was driving on the day, instead of trying out their wine selection, I ordered a mocktail to start, picking Spumoni ($138). Made with Lyre’s red bitter, grapefruit, Fever-Tree tonic, and saline, it is a refreshing beverage, with the different components harmonized in taste. My wife had a simple Ginger Ale ($48) as well.We had two appetizers. AB Tuna Pizza ($168) had a thin crisp crust at the bottom, spread with umami aioli and some micro shiso, drizzled with white truffle oil, before coated with a layer of tuna hammered to paper thin, plus rings of onion, tomato, and green pepper to decorate. The contrast in taste and texture was interesting, also delicious.The other appetizer was Truffle Bomb ($238). On the smoked potato truffle foam were three beautifully deep-fried croquette balls, with raw marinated sweet shrimp jang, sea urchin, and caviar on top, decorated with some chopped spring onion, giving complex savoury and umami taste to the croquettes, further enhanced by flavours of truffle in the foam.For the main, Filet Tobanyaki ($488) was served on a sizzling hot stone plate, with an umami soy sauce poured on top of the prime filet and mixed mushrooms. The filet was of great quality, very tender and juicy, while the mushrooms got a good bite on texture and complementing with its earthy taste.The Bibimbap ($258) is the traditional anchor food in stone bowl, with different sauteed vegetables, mixed with gochujang, the signature Korean fermented chili sauce, with a twist of using job’s tear instead of rice, to take advantage of the grain’s chewy texture and earthy taste. Both delicious and healthy.We had also ordered the signature Brother From Another Mother ($268). Strangely it only came after we had finished the bibimbap. The roll got its name as it featured two types of eels. Wrapped inside the roll were the freshwater eel unagi kabayaki, with sea eel anago tempura on top, plus some shaved foie gras torchon, and paired with ponzu aioli. Creative but not my favourite.For dessert I had Chocolate in a Cup ($118). Served in a coffee cup was Nutella together with vanilla bean ice-cream and a banana foam, and a chocolate film on top with the restaurant’s logos. Rich and flavourful. My wife had Yuzu Shiso ($108) featuring confit citrus fruit, lime madeleine, yuko yuzu sorbet, and green shiso cream. Refreshing and nice.Service was good, with the staff attentive and friendly, eager to help. Food quality was very good and delicious, with the dining environment impeccable. The bill on the night is $2,112. On checking my receipt, I found the restaurant charged me $168 for the Tuna Pizza but according to the menu it should be $148. Something the restaurant needed to investigate and correct, but we were very happy about the overall experience. No wonder it had become a hot spot in town.查看更多

呢間餐廳坐落中環最新、最靚嘅商廈裡面,裝修係幾有格調嘅——我係之後先知道,原來佢哋係一間國際連鎖餐廳,真係失敬晒。不過,我差一秒就掉頭走,連門都未入到。點解?第一,我收到兩次訊息,提醒我張枱只留15分鐘,我明白嘅,準時係應該,多謝提醒。第二,我特登上網睇,話第一輪係6點到8點,我專登早少少到,6點前15分鐘就到咗。點知,門口一個人都冇。我行近等咗陣,先有個人行出嚟,問我係咪有訂位。我話有,佢就跟住講:「唔好意思,我哋未準備好,你出返去等啦。」出返去等,本來冇問題——但係,外面乜都冇,冇櫈坐、冇嘢睇,就咁企喺走廊乾等。一間自稱高級嘅餐廳,待客之道竟然可以咁差,真係大開眼界。講到食物,可能我一坐低已經唔高興,所以食乜都打咗折扣。唯一覺得可以接受嘅,係個雞胸肉,算係嫩滑。至於其他網上推介嘅菜式?我冇叫到。因為由頭到尾,我都感覺唔到呢間餐廳係想做我生意。總結:如果你鍾意企喺走廊等,同埋享受一種「我求你嚟食」嘅氛圍,呢度應該適合你。查看更多

SUPER DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. Overhyped and not worth your time or money.The decor is nice and the positive ends there. Service was amateur and disorganised. The staff who took our order didn’t repeat the order back to us so one dish went missing. She also didn’t ask if we have any food allergies so two of us got served food we couldn’t eat. Empty bottle of sparkling water on our table for over an hour and no one asked if we wanted a refill or other drinks. When we finished all the food, no one came to confirm all the food had been served and if we wanted to order more/see the dessert menu. Considering the price they’re charging and its international reputation, the service was terribly lacking.What really ruined the meal was having to wait almost half an hour between each dish. We had asked servers to check on two separate occasions and gotten curt replies that he/she will check on it then never hearing back from this server again. When we noticed the table next to us which sat down at least an hour after us got served food we still haven’t gotten, we asked again. The server was very defensive and snobby while insisting that it is normal for signature rolls to be served after the main course. We kept emphasising that we were still missing the king crab legs which were an appetizer and we were already served our main course (miso cod). It took her a while to register this and then she went to go check. It was such a mess we asked to talk to the manager and even this meant we had to ask two separate servers and another 10 minutes before the manager came and apologised for missing the order.Now all this waiting may be worth it if the food was amazing right? Well it felt like discount Nobu and with smaller portions. After all that waiting we were just not in a mood to wait any longer and just left, hungry.I wrote to the restaurant about this experience and after the initial reply it’s been dead air. Not even after I sent another email asking for a reply. Seems like nobody who works there actually cares.查看更多

一直想試The Henderson入面既餐廳,最近新開呢間由美籍韓裔名廚Akira Back主理,成個空間以「美食交響曲」做概念,龍捲風入口同粉紅大理石吧枱好搶眼✨華麗既裝修既causal dining,好岩同朋友聚餐傾計,但如果想浪漫dating就真係有d太嘈食物係日韓美fusion,整體不過不失特別推薦:🥩和牛鐵板燒 - 和牛肥瘦均勻好嫩滑,鐵板上熱辣辣仲冒緊煙🌶香辣豆腐 - 外脆內滑,辣度岩岩好🍣蒲燒鰻魚卷 - 醬汁濃郁幾入味環境同服務都好滿意,但食物有進步空間,係一間好啱Friday Night同朋友/同事聚會既地方查看更多

You would assume that the newest celebrity chef restaurant to come to Hong Kong would make a big splash. Instead, it left me soul searching. Every signature dish ordered for our table as quite lacklustre and disappointing. The tuna and mushroom ‘pizzas’ were one dimensional, the salmon sushi lacking a salty or spicy punch, the wagyu pleasant but left on its own with poor add-ons, and the vegetables just buttery and that’s it. The prices we paid for the meal did not justify the quality of food. Most people will visit simply for the social media shots and to tell people they went to the newest hot restaurant in town. 查看更多

Yes,I agree. In fact I also wrote something very similar to this on my post -dinner review when the resto sent me an email asking me to rate them. While service was amicable and decor is modern, with crockery + cutlery reflecting that they have spent time to infuse art into the menu , table setting , furniture , tableware etc down to food presentation , the dishes themselves do not yield a wow factor given the noise they have created in the media writeups etc therefore we expected some amazing dishes that would entice and lure us back. Nothing we had had can be said as ' not good ' but everything is simply ' okay'. Given the price , it is , to me, a confirmed glutton at best a gourmand, Akira Back serves overrated tepid food that yields underwhelming overall experience.

中環The henderson開幕半年以獨特嘅流線建築引起討論而家終於有餐飲進駐係世界各地都有設立分店嘅chef akira back係香港開設第一家同名餐廳就選址the henderson五樓本來對American風格嘅日韓菜沒太大期望 但出乎意料地幾唔錯睇得又食得🦀 Alaskan king crab $298以玻璃盒上枱一打開即刻飄出煙燻香氣,直到個盒攞走埋都仲縈繞不散蟹腳肉質肥美,上面濃郁creamy嘅辣醬好惹味亦帶jalapeño獨有嘅辣勁風味🐟 toro tatare $388法式牛肉他他製法,但今次主角係拖羅九種配料放入好精緻嘅九宮格由staff將其與魚子醬拌匀後上桌,配雲吞脆片同吃無筋、唔腥,好鮮味,口感都好豐富🍉 compressed watermelon carpaccio $128呢個都係必試係將西瓜以紅椒粉醃製24小時、再配羊奶芝士、脆糖合桃、gochujang頭幾下咬落口感真係好似平時嘅魚生!係食到中間先有少少西瓜嘅甜香同爽脆感🍣Brother from another mother $268蒲燒鰻魚、海鰻天婦羅、柑橘蛋黃醬、鵝肝呢個我覺得鰻魚可以脆身啲鵝肝亦都冇乜存在感整體都係以濃香惹味嘅醬汁為主角🥩 Filet tobanyaki $488牛柳以日式鐵板上再淋上醬汁,聲色香味俱全!想要熟啲就可以係鐵板上燒耐啲本身驚filet太瘦,但食落牛柳腍軟無渣,勁juicy都幾出色 🍫 chocolate in a cup $118入面係類似brownie 夾有榛子醬On top有香蕉泡沫呢道甜品我覺得好睇過食生日送左個雲昵拿雪糕大福反而我覺得仲好食🤣Service都係幾attentive同friendly~會擺係我可回訪嘅list上!查看更多

Akira Back really impressed me with every bitI visited Akira Back recently and booked the private dining room – was absolutely blown away by the entire experience—from the moment I stepped into the dramatic entrance to the final bite of sushi. Food-wise, the tuna pizza is a must-try. Crispy at the bottom and fresh tuna on top, reflecting Chef Akira Back’s blend of Korean roots and Japanese finesse, amazing combination. Then there’s Miso Black Cod, very memorable. I took a very bold and great decision to order the Toro Tartare – very very nice. Signature rolls like Brother from Another Mother is really the hit LOL wow-ed by the name and the quality. Superb! Definitely many Instagram-worthy moments! Everything is just chef’s kiss.查看更多
