GREEN TEA (THE SOUTHSIDE)
2025-10-17
Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Parking | Price | Wheelchair Friendly | Easy Access🙂 Restroom Cleanliness😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage Fee | Cake Cutting FeeThis brand was established in Hangzhou in 2008 and now has approximately 500 branches worldwide. In Hong Kong, it has collaborated with Michelin-starred chef Yu Bin as a consultant, who brings his unique vision for Zhejiang cuisine. There are currently eight branches in Hong Kong, with plans to open more in the future. The one I visited is in the Southside and had only been open for about three months. The restaurant is spacious and features a garden-themed decor. The ambiance is very green and natural, yet overall it feels clean and cozy. The service was excellent and the staff were very attentive. The price-performance ratio is extremely good. Although the portion sizes are not large, they are well-portioned and sufficient for a small group. The food quality is high, and the flavors are well-balanced—not too salty nor too sweet. As this branch is still quite new, it does not yet have an alcohol license, so it's not recommended to bring your own wine. They also charge a cake-cutting fee.The restaurant is located on the third floor of a mall, which offers plenty of parking. Being on the same level as the entrance is very convenient, including for wheelchair users. There are also lifts for access to other floors. If you are taking the MTR, alight at Wong Chuk Hang Station, take Exit B, and it's just a two-minute walk. They offer a free membership program. New members receive an immediate HK$50 coupon, and every purchase accumulates points for future redemption.Overall, it was a great dining experience for a casual dinner. I will definitely visit again and may also try some of their other branches.…Read More

MODERN SHANGHAI (East Point City)

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Parking | Price | Wheelchair Friendly | Easy Access🙂 Restroom Cleanliness | Cake Cutting Fee😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage FeeThis restaurant is located in a shopping mall in Tseung Kwan O. It's very easy to access via the MTR; simply get off at Hang Hau Station and use Exit A1. For those driving, the mall offers ample parking, which is free after a minimum spending amount. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible via a lift. The service is excellent, but note that there are no restrooms inside the restaurant itself - you must use the mall's facilities, which are well-maintained and regularly cleaned.I've visited this restaurant many times, mostly for lunch. They offer set menus for parties of two or four, which provide a wide variety of dishes and very generous portions. For a party of three, the set for two is usually sufficient, and we often have leftovers to take away. The food is excellent. I highly recommend the drunken chicken and the deep-fried yellow fish. Their dumplings are also great, particularly the "jumbo dumpling," which is a must-try item not included in the set menus. To eat it, you first drink the soup inside through a straw before eating the filling. There is corkage charged for $100 per bottle and $50 per cake. The cake cutting fee can be waived if one order of dessert is placed.Overall, it offers great value for money and has a pleasant ambience. It's one of our go-to choices when we're in the mood for Shanghainese food.…Read More

Kong Lung Seafood Restaurant

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Easy Parking | Restroom Cleanliness | Price | Corkage Fee | Cake Cutting Fee | Wheelchair🙂 😠 Pet Friendly This seafood restaurant is located in Lei Yue Mun, an area famous for its fresh seafood. Like many places here, the common practice is to buy your own seafood from one of the nearby shops and then choose a restaurant to cook it for you. This restaurant also has a full menu of other dishes you can order directly.A key advantage of this particular restaurant is its location on Hoi Pong Road West, right at the entrance of Lei Yue Mun. This means you can avoid walking through the wet market alleys. The venue itself is clean, tidy, and bright, spread across two stories with a street-level entrance that is wheelchair accessible. It is also conveniently close to an indoor parking lot, with both indoor and outdoor public parking available nearby. They are open daily from 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM. The service is good, and the prices are reasonable. They are also accommodating about cake cutting and corkage fees, waiving them as long as you don't bring an excessive amount. Now, for the most important part - the food! Every seafood dish we tried was delicious. Standouts include the steamed fish, king crab, and abalone. We also ordered two raw dishes: the spot prawns and geoduck. They were impeccably cleaned, perfectly chilled, and absolutely yummy. The deep-fried mantis shrimp was another winner - rich in flavor, crispy on the outside, and not overcooked, so the meat inside remained incredibly juicy. The fish soup was also excellent: flavorful but not salty. From the restaurant's own kitchen, we tried the roast pig; the skin was wonderfully crispy and the meat was very tender.I've been to this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. I can't wait to go back!…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Price | Easy Access | Easy Parking | Wheelchair | Cake Cutting Fee | Corkage Fee 🙂 Service | Ambience😠 Pet Friendly | Restroom CleanlinessThis Guangdong-style restaurant in Sheung Wan operates daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. It's particularly famous for its traditional dim sum service in the morning and afternoon. The dining experience is classic and lively: steamers are packed with a wide variety of dim sum, which is served from trolleys pushed by staff throughout the venue. There's also a dedicated counter for fresh deep-fried dishes. The billing system uses a card system where servers mark off items in different price categories as you select them. When you're finished, your total is calculated based on these marks manually. The food is consistently tasty and served hot. However, the venue, including the restrooms, isn't the cleanest, and the service is just average. The excellent prices are a major draw. The restaurant is accessible via a lift or staircase, though when busy, using the stairs is faster than waiting for the lift. It's easily reached by tram, bus, or minibus. For MTR users, it's a 5-minute walk from Sai Ying Pun Station (Exit A1). Limited meter parking is available on the back street. In the evening, they switch to a menu of Cantonese dishes. A notable perk is that they do not charge corkage or cake-cutting fees. The dining area spans the second and third floors. There is no service charge, but a tea charge of HK$16 per person applies. Be aware that a 10% service charge is added for private room bookings.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Easy Parking | Restroom Cleanliness🙂 Price | Wheelchair😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage Fee | Cake Cutting FeeThis charming French patisserie, which recently added a dine-in area about two months ago, was previously take-away only. Their cakes are truly special and delicious. While larger cakes require advance ordering, individual portions are available for purchase on the spot. The shop is closed every Monday but open all other days. It's located at street level, though the entrance has two steps, making access inconvenient for wheelchairs. You can find metered parking nearby, or take the MTR to Sheung Wan Station; it's just a six-minute walk from Exit A2.Inside, the restroom is very clean, and there's a small area selling souvenirs like coffee cups and plates, though the prices are a bit high. They serve a selection of tea, coffee, and even ginger ale, making it a lovely spot for afternoon tea. It's a cozy venue perfect for a chat with friends. While the prices are relatively high, they are justified by the exquisite flavor and beautiful decoration of the cakes. A notable feature is that they are not too sweet, but just right. We sampled several flavors, including grape, pistachio, chocolate, and fig - all were wonderfully fresh and delicious!…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Price | Service | Easy Access | Easy Parking | Wheelchair | Restroom Cleanliness🙂 Cake Cutting Fee | Corkage Fee 😠 Pet Friendly Tucked away in Kowloon City's vibrant Thai restaurant district, this establishment has been a local fixture for years, though this was my first visit. The ambience was pleasant, and the venue was clean and tidy.Their extensive menu offers a wide variety of dishes, from meat and seafood to salads, noodles, and rice. We managed to order four dishes just before their 10 pm closing time. Surprisingly, every single one was excellent and packed with fantastic flavor. I enjoyed them all, but the lettuce wraps and the pomelo salad were truly outstanding. The minced pork in the lettuce wraps was delicious, with a perfect balance of sour and spicy notes that was beautifully complemented by the cool, crisp lettuce. Even after we'd been eating for a while, the dish remained piping hot. The pomelo salad was also a highlight. Unlike many versions where the pomelo is sparse and shredded into tiny pieces, this one featured generous, large chunks of fruit that were clearly visible and full of flavor. The restaurant is very accessible. It comprises two street-level shops located close to each other, making it wheelchair-friendly. There is plenty of metered parking nearby, or you can take the MTR to Sung Wong Toi Station; it's just a two-minute walk from Exit B2.A couple of practical notes: they are open every day, and they accept credit cards. However, for bills of $500 or less, payment is cash-only. Corkage fee is $50 per bottle and cake cutting is also $50.Additional pluses include clean restroom facilities, good service, and excellent value for money. I will definitely be returning to try more of their dishes.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Price | Restroom Cleanliness | Service | Easy Access | Wheelchair Friendly🙂 Corkage Fee | Easy Parking😠 Pet Friendly | Cake Cutting FeeTucked away in Tsim Sha Tsui, this newly opened French private kitchen offers an intimate and cozy dining experience. Helmed by Japanese chef Nihonyanagi San, the restaurant operates exclusively for dinner with a pre-set menu.We opted for the $480 HKD set dinner, which included a choice of Starter, Main, and Dessert. The chef prepares everything masterfully right before your eyes. Dishes were beautifully garnished and delicious. Standouts included a rich, creamy cold pumpkin soup, incredibly crispy deep-fried beef honeycomb tripe, and an exceptional duck pâté with visible meat. The foie gras, seared from raw to plate at the counter, was a highlight. We also enjoyed the wine pairing ($380-$490 HKD), which featured excellent unfiltered sparkling, white, and red wines matched to the courses. Desserts, like the chocolate terrine with Chinese wine ice cream, were uniquely delightful. The service and ambiance were excellent. The venue is easily accessible from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station (4-minute walk from Exit B2) and is wheelchair-friendly. Note that premium items like Wagyu beef, Lobster, Foie Gras carry an additional charge, and advance booking (often with a deposit) is essential. Corkage is waived with the purchase of a bottle from their list. Cake cutting fees applied at $150 per cake. It's an outstanding meal well worth the price.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Price | Easy Parking | Restroom Cleanliness | Wheelchair Friendly | Corkage Fee🙂 😠 Pet Friendly | Cake Cutting FeeThis Zhejiang restaurant is a highly renowned Michelin-starred establishment, having held one star continuously from 2015 to the present (2025). It is celebrated for its authentic cuisine, featuring traditional dishes such as smoked fish, steamed fermented tofu, and their signature tea-smoked duck.I understand their chef previously worked at the famed Snow Garden (雪園) restaurant, which explains the exceptional quality. The entrance is at street level, with the dining area located on the second and third floors, accessible by lift, making it wheelchair-friendly. Private rooms on the third floor offer a cozy environment but require a minimum charge of $4,000.While the restaurant originally required membership bookings, it now welcomes non-members. Please note that a service charge and corkage fee now apply for non-members (members enjoy free corkage and no service charge). Cake cutting fee applies for all customers at $100 per cake. Valet parking is available for $100, or you can try your luck with the metered street parking nearby. The restrooms are notably clean and well-maintained.The menu is extensive, with some specialty dishes like the Eight-Treasure Duck (八寶鴨) and crab dishes requiring advance order. Every dish we tried was excellent - perfectly balanced, not overly salty, and never greasy. The presentation is elegant and clean. A particular highlight was the provided black vinegar, which complemented the flavours beautifully.Given the exceptional quality, the price-performance ratio is outstanding. For a Michelin-starred meal of this calibre, it is excellent value. The service is professional and the waitstaff are very polite. We will undoubtedly be returning.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Price | Easy Parking | Restroom Cleanliness 🙂 Food 😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage Fee | Cake Cutting Fee | Wheelchair Friendly This iconic Hong Kong restaurant has been a local institution since 1966, famous for its thrilling sizzling iron plate dishes (鐵板). The experience is a major draw: servers prepare your meal tableside with dramatic flames, finishing by pouring sauce (black pepper, onion, mushroom sauce etc…) onto the hot plate for a spectacular sizzle and cloud of aromatic smoke. It's a perfect video opportunity, but remember to use the provided apron or napkin to shield yourself from splattering oil and sauce.Specializing in "Hong Kong-style Western cuisine" (港式西餐), the menu features a wide array of steaks, chicken, pork, and fish. Their signature vegetable borscht (羅宋湯) and creamy soups are not to be missed, and pasta and noodle dishes like ox-tongue spaghetti (牛脷意粉) and shredded beef chow mein (牛柳絲炒麵) are also popular. The restaurant is easily accessible from Wan Chai MTR Station (just a 3-minute walk from Exit B1). For drivers, there is metered street parking nearby or a lot in the Pacific Place mall. Note that while it's on a street-level building, the dining area is on the second floor and is not wheelchair accessible. A corkage and cake-cutting fee of $50 each applies. Restroom is available in the restaurant. While the food quality is decent but not exceptional, the overall value for money is good, bolstered by the unique performance and efficient service.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Service | Easy Access | Price | Easy Parking 🙂 Ambience😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage Fee | Cake Cutting Fee | Wheelchair Friendly | Restroom CleanlinessThis iconic Cha Chaan Teng 茶餐廳 is a one-of-a-kind establishment in Hong Kong with a long history. It's especially famous for its deep-fried pork chop, drumsticks, and French toast.Be aware that it's a very small, cramped shop with only a few tables. Due to poor ventilation, you'll likely leave smelling like the kitchen. Also, there are no restrooms inside.Despite this, the food quality is excellent. I've tried their breakfast and lunch; the satay beef noodles are a standout. The beef is fresh and tender, cooked to order with the satay sauce rather than pre-mixed. The milk tea is also superb, and their French toast is highly recommended (though I haven't tried it myself). The entrance has a staircase, making it inaccessible for wheelchairs. Metered parking is available nearby, but the easiest way to get there is to take the MTR to Sheung Wan Station (Exit A2) and walk for about six minutes. They are open daily from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and offer reasonably priced set menus for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea. Service is efficient and friendly, thanks to the team of attentive waitresses. Lastly, they only accept Cash or Octopus Card for payment.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Price | Easy Parking | Wheelchair Friendly | Restroom Cleanliness 🙂 😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage Fee | Cake Cutting FeeThis fine-dining restaurant is situated on the fifth floor of The Mira Hong Kong in Mira Place. It offers both intimate indoor seating and an outdoor area, creating a cozy and welcoming ambience. While not particularly large, the space feels comfortable and is popular for family gatherings and meetings between old friends.Location & Accessibility:The restaurant is highly accessible. It is conveniently located near the Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations (Exit B1/N5). A lift is available from the street level directly to the restaurant on the 5th floor, making it wheelchair-friendly. For those driving, the hotel provides parking, with complimentary parking offered based on a minimum spending requirement.Dining Experience:The overall dining experience is exceptional. The food quality is superb, and the presentation is impeccable, with each dish being artfully arranged. Service is also excellent, highlighted by thoughtful touches such as servers pouring sauces tableside.Restaurant Week Menu:The restaurant participates in Restaurant Week, offering a special five-course dinner menu for $498. The menu is as follows:* Starter: Freshly Baked bread and butter.* First Course: Smoked trout tartlet.* Second Course: AMA Ebi (a refreshing tomato-based dish).* Third Course: Potato & Parsley Veloute with organic egg and truffle.* Main Course: A choice of Salmon or Angus beef tenderloin (the latter available for an additional $208).* Dessert: A choice of warm sesame cake or peach Melba.* Finale: The meal concludes with Petit Fours. The meal is delicious, well-balanced, and thoroughly satisfying.A Note on the Future:It is worth noting that, according to the waitstaff, the restaurant will transition from a standard dining model to primarily hosting private events starting in September 2025. This makes trying their current offering a particularly compelling opportunity. Given the high quality of food and service, this special menu is undoubtedly worth trying.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Service | Easy Access | Easy Parking | Wheelchair Friendly | Restroom Cleanliness🙂 Ambience | Price😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage Fee | Cake Cutting FeeThis 茶餐廳 (Hong Kong-style cafe) is a unique establishment, with only one branch in the city. A popular spot for many years, it's a beloved local institution.Location & Accessibility:Conveniently located at street level on Hollywood Road, the cafe is wheelchair-accessible. For those driving, there is meter parking just across the street. If you're taking the MTR, get off at Sheung Wan Station; it's about a 7-minute walk from Exit A2.The Venue:The restaurant is very clean and well-maintained - I've even seen the staff diligently cleaning first thing in the morning. A restroom is available inside for customers. The Food & Menu:The menu is straightforward. Their signature dishes are the french toast and the beef brisket noodles. Note that they do not offer set meals, so all drinks are ordered separately.* French Toast: This was the highlight! Freshly made, it was crispy on the outside and wonderfully soft inside, served with butter and syrup. It pairs perfectly with a hot milk tea or coffee.* Noodles: We tried the pork liver and radish tenderloin rice noodle (豬潤牛腩米). Be aware that the noodles used here are instant noodles (公仔麵). The bowls are not cheap, costing nearly $50 each. If you prefer a fresh tomato soup base, there is an additional charge of $8.* Drinks: Soft drinks are available for an extra charge.Service & Hours:The service is good and efficient. They are open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM every day except Sunday. In Summary:While adding up the cost of noodles and drinks can make for a somewhat expensive breakfast, the good food quality and clean environment make it a worthwhile visit.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Price | Easy Parking | Wheelchair Friendly | Cake Cutting Fee🙂 Food | Restroom Cleanliness😠 Pet Friendly | Corkage Fee This Japanese restaurant has several branches across Hong Kong. My favorite is the one in North Point, which has always provided an impressive dining experience. Hoping to change my mind about the Tseung Kwan O branch, which I found just average on my first visit, I decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, my perception remains the same, and the revisit was quite disappointing.I ordered the daily special: a Maguro Toro Rice Bowl Deluxe Set for HK$240. The set was visually appealing, featuring a colorful assortment of sashimi arranged over the rice. It was served with a side of cold vinegar jelly, which was quite good when mixed into the rice. A nice touch was saving some rice at the end to make ochazuke (tea rice) with the provided fish soup, which was kept warm in a thermos. However, the soup was only lukewarm, not hot, and cooled down quickly when poured over the rice. It also had a slightly fishy taste. As for the sashimi itself, the bowl included tuna, uni, maguro, toro, egg, and more. While the presentation was excellent and the ingredients seemed fresh, I prefer my sashimi to be served very cold. Placing it directly on the warm rice made it slightly warm, which I found altered the texture and flavor in a way I didn't enjoy.A few other notes: like some other locations, this branch does not have its own restroom; customers must use the mall facilities. The mall offers a car park with free parking based on a minimum spending requirement. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and conveniently located near Hang Hau MTR Station (Exit A1). They do not charge a cake-cutting fee, but a corkage fee is applied; this can be waived if you order sake from their menu.…Read More

Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Price | Easy Parking | Pet Friendly | Wheelchair Friendly | Corkage Fee🙂 Restroom Cleanliness😠 Cake Cutting Fee Nestled on the rooftop of the K11 Musea mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, this Western-style coffee shop offers a unique urban escape. A key highlight is its location within Victoria Dockside's pet garden on the 7th floor, making it a perfect spot to visit with your furry friend. The open and breezy outdoor seating area is ideal for enjoying a meal; you can even bring your own wine with no corkage fee, just the standard 10% service charge. While the indoor seating is cozy, it can feel a bit tight with a limited number of tables. This branch stands out from the others due to its exceptional environment. Despite being on the top floor, it is wheelchair-accessible via a special lift from a lower floor - just be sure to ask a staff member for assistance. Note that there is no restroom inside the café itself, but the mall's facilities are impeccable and very clean.Opening at 10 am daily, it's a great choice for breakfast or brunch. Their Western-style dishes, paired with a excellent coffee or tea, provide a refreshing start to the day. The shop is open until 9 PM on weekdays and 5 PM on weekends and holidays, making it suitable for an afternoon tea or a light dinner as well. The menu boasts a wide variety of options despite its seemingly simple appearance. Standout dishes include:* Excellent Avocado Toast: Generously topped with avocado and perfectly balanced flavors.* Smoked Salmon Benedict: Delicious, with salmon that isn't too salty and, again, plenty of avocado.* Hearty Acai Yogurt Bowl: A healthy, not-too-sweet option packed with berries, banana, toasted coconut, almond flakes, and honey.* Other Favorites: They also serve pasta like Linguine Carbonara and Rigatoni Bolognese, as well as French toast, a fish fillet sando, fries, crab cakes, and hummus. This was my first visit, and it was a wonderful dining experience thanks to a friend's recommendation. I will certainly be returning to try more dishes - and I'll be bringing my dog next time!A few final tips: They do charge a cake-cutting fee, so be aware if you're celebrating. Chef Ecy’s Dining Experience:🥰 Food | Ambience | Service | Easy Access | Restroom Cleanliness | Price | Easy Parking | Wheelchair Friendly | Corkage Fee🙂😠 Pet Friendly | Cake Cutting Fee This popular Hunan restaurant has several branches across Hong Kong. As the name suggests, it specializes in authentic Hunan cuisine, which is famously spicy, but they also offer an excellent selection of non-spicy dishes. The ambience is welcoming and traditional, decorated with red lanterns throughout. The space is clean, tidy, and conveniently located at street level, making it wheelchair accessible. It's very easy to get to via bus, minibus, or tram. If you're taking the MTR, alight at North Point Station (Exit A1) and it's just a two-minute walk along Java Road. For drivers, there is metered street parking nearby, as well as the Harbour North shopping mall car park directly across the street.Service is excellent, and the restaurant has a customer-friendly policy of no corkage fee, though they do charge HK$50 for cake cutting. They offer great value with weekday lunch sets, though we opted for à la carte to sample a wider variety of dishes.Overall, most dishes were excellent. The non-spicy options, like the braised pork belly, bitter melon, steamed egg, and various tofu dishes, had a delicious, homely quality. The spicy fish in sour soup was a standout - incredibly tender and flavorful.A few dishes, however, missed the mark. The roast chicken was unfortunately quite dry and skimpy on meat. The stir-fried yellow beef, one of their signature dishes, was surprisingly tough and overly salty on both occasions I've tried it.
