I have heard many things about this place prior to visiting and have always wanted to come have a look. I was extremely hopeful when finally visiting, since I have just recently restarted to read again. I was very much looking forward to be able to find some good reads at this place but was really disappointed.

Upon entering, I was immediately brought to a table and made to order (it seems like you cannot just come and browse the shelves). I was extremely hungry so I ordered a jam sandwich and a latte and paid 50 bucks. The sandwich, however, looked unappealing and was extremely small. There was a minimum amount of jam inside and I finished it in a few bites. The coffee was the worst I’ve ever had, and mind you I’m not at all picky with coffee. But I couldn’t even finish half of it, it tasted diluted and watery.

The place itself was a disappointment. Books are just stacked on the floor, unorganised with half of the titles turned inwards or hidden by other piles. You can see probably just a fraction of the books. And among the ones that you are able to see, 1/3 is textbooks, 1/3 travel guides and 1/3 novels and others. It was very uninteresting and I was very disappointed, especially with how the books are being treated. Not to mention that there is no air-con at the place, so throughout the whole hour, I was sweaty and sticky and it was just impossible to sit down and read.

Overall I would not recommend this place to any book lovers or anyone who is looking for getting some new books to read. If you’re just passing by and want to sit for a bit, then maybe, but you will have to pay at least 30 bucks. I’d rather just go to another coffee shops, there are many around, with much better coffee and food.
