This restaurant has 2 branches in Hong Kong, one in Wanchai and the other in Sheung Wan. The one I went to is Sheung Wan branch. JOM is a modern Singaporean restaurant serving local favourites. In Malay, Jom means “Come, let’s go!” It serves Singaporean and Malaysian food while the chef is a Malaysian. You can get there by bus, minibus, tram or MTR. It is just 1min walk from Exit A2 Sheung Wan MTR station. If you drive, there are lots of meter parking in 蘇杭街. They have 2 levels in Sheung Wan and need to take a few stair steps at the entrance and also to the 2nd level. So wheelchair is not that convenient. There are not too many tables in the restaurant and I found that the table is too small to put the dishes. For a 2 person table, say if you order a set menu for 2, the table cannot fit them all, it‘s a bit tight & not comfortable. Overall the ambience is good, tidy & clean. The food is very good. They are not too spicy and the flavor is very special. They have lunch set menu in weekdays for just HK$98. Afternoon tea set is available too in weekdays from $56 - $88. Of course, they serve A La Carte too. In weekends, they have a set menu for 2 at a price of $528. We ordered this set… Wow, there are many dishes to choose from in the menu. They are pretty good! Such as the snack platter, we ordered the salted egg lotus roots, prawn past chicken wings & chili crab bun. Tasty & Yummy! For main course, they have so-called coffee pork ribs which is special, cereal tiger prawns. The cereal tiger prawns are tasty but a bit sweet. Prawns are fresh and jumbo in size. There is a surprise for the Laksa Yong Tofu. Originally, I thought it’s just Tofu in the Laksa sauce but in fact, there are many things inside the Laksa. All are stuffed with minced pork such as Egg plant, Tofu, Okra, Chilli etc … It‘s very nice! Too bad that they do charge for corkage and cake. Their restroom is inside the restaurant at the back. It’s clean and tidy. Overall the service is excellent! One thing they need to improve is the drinks. The Barley water I ordered has very little barley flavor and with just a little barley at the bottom. The calamansi juice is very sour too, maybe more ice is better to dilute the sour taste.
