I've visited this cafe a few times with friends, but the quality seems to have gone downhill recently. The Mala spicy pasta and clams are quite good previously - they're cooked al dente and have a nice numbing spice to them. However, the service has become a bit of an issue. If you're seated on the second floor, there's no easy way to get the waitstaff's attention unless you go down to the first floor. The second floor also has some unique seating options like tatami mats with sofas and cushions, which were nice previously but now seem a bit worn out and not as clean.
During our last visit, we were disappointed to find that the pasta, which is the main draw of the cafe, was slightly overcooked. This made it lose the al dente texture and unique flavor that we had enjoyed before. For the fairly high prices in the Mong Kok area, the pasta was no longer worth it.
Overall, it seems like this cafe has declined in quality over time. worn furnishings and inconsistent food preparation make it unlikely that we'll be returning anytime soon. It's a shame, as this used to be a really enjoyable place to dine with friends. Hopefully they can get things back on track, but for now I can't recommend it.
