今日去左high street搵野食,本身唸住去隔離個間,但佢地做Christmas set,唔低食。咁岩flying pig個老闆,攞住隻豬仔行左出黎,就俾佢叫左入去試下。 Set lunch D價錢都okay,野飲要另外加錢。 叫左個Thai salad, 一般般啦,個湯就有隻青口。 Christmas Platter,有火雞同火腿啊,岩曬聖誕,味道唔會太咸,仲配左三種蔬菜,正啊! 甜品係chocolate mousse cake,細細件,Yummy!

平日十二點鐘去到,大約有三四枱食緊,走嘅時候就開始多人。

Overall flying pig 價錢合量,waitress 友善,食物質素佳,值得推薦!

對於我來說在西環吃飯最方便之處,一定是高街。高街林立了不少餐廳,以西式為主,也有意大利和墨西哥菜,其餘都是日間供應all day breakfast和其他輕食,晚上則供應扒類的餐廳,也有酒吧。對於剛剛起床的我,當然選擇去高街吃個早餐吧!這次是我第三次倒高街找吃了,所以也試過不少餐廳,最後我選了Flying Pig這個我沒有試過的。早上十時許到達,店內滿是空座,只有兩三台客,我坐在近門口位置的二人位,享受天然陽光,跟路過的狗狗打招呼。 Brunch Menu 的選擇頗多,有輕有重 ,從沙律,三文治到牛扒都有:   Avocado Chicken Sandwich 這個三文治非常大件,應該大過我的腳板哈哈,旁邊則配了蔬菜沙律。三文治餡料不多,除了雞和牛油果之外,還有大大條的荀和洋蔥,雖然配料簡單,但味道很出眾。配料只用黑椒和鹽調味,已經帶出食物本身的味道,清新而簡單,再配上少許辣汁(應該是透明的辣汁,完全看不到痕跡),刺激味蕾,旁邊的蔬菜亦新鮮,非常喜歡這個三文治。肉眼扒早上吃個扒對於我來說真是有點heavy,所以男友點了我也只吃一兩口。牛扒看下去頗肥美,面積不大但厚身,點的是medium

Brunch Menu 的選擇頗多,有輕有重 ,從沙律,三文治到牛扒都有:  
 Avocado Chicken Sandwich

這個三文治非常大件,應該大過我的腳板哈哈,旁邊則配了蔬菜沙律。三文治餡料不多,除了雞和牛油果之外,還有大大條的荀和洋蔥,雖然配料簡單,但味道很出眾。配料只用黑椒和鹽調味,已經帶出食物本身的味道,清新而簡單,再配上少許辣汁(應該是透明的辣汁,完全看不到痕跡),刺激味蕾,旁邊的蔬菜亦新鮮,非常喜歡這個三文治。

肉眼扒

早上吃個扒對於我來說真是有點heavy,所以男友點了我也只吃一兩口。牛扒看下去頗肥美,面積不大但厚身,點的是medium cook ,熟的程度剛剛好,切開肉塊中間呈漂亮的粉紅色,吃下去鬆軟,沒有生肉的騷味,讚。

這裡是吃casual meal 的好地方,價錢相宜選擇又多,基本上任何時候來都可以找到適合肚子的菜式,不論早餐,午餐或是下午茶,晚餐就更不用說啦。 GOOD!

中式燒乳豬大家就吃得多啦,西式燒猪又點呢? 今次叫左份例牌suckling pig 同埋lamb wellington.suckling pig 没有中式乳豬禁燒到卜卜脆, 佢地反而烤到猪皮比較軟身, 保留猪肉水份; 味道比中式乳豬更可口, 論脆口, 當然中式嘅乳豬好味~lamb wellington 可能因為外賣關係, 到來時酥皮已經唔脆口啦。。。但羊肉就好好味, 冇咩酥味之於仲好軟熟~

I had a hard morning at work but made it there for a lunch gathering with friends and late for 20 minute. "No lunch for you as you are too late" was the greeting from the waiter, what a great reception. To show his humor, 5 minutes later he again told me "why not smiling, you should be happy here". Gf and I came for a late dinner one sat night. We had heard great things about this place. It was buzzing and almost full so we were excited.We ordered half rack ribs (starter), pulled pork burger (main) and salmon (main) and some drinks. The standout was the ribs. It was perfectly cooked through, meat was tender and deliciously flavoured with bbq sauce but way too heavy as a "starter" on the menuAreas for improvement:* fries were soggy, and multiple fries were burnt (black) and inedible* salad

Areas for improvement:
* fries were soggy, and multiple fries were burnt (black) and inedible
* salad that came with two of the dishes was just limp lettuce .. Why bother?!
* salmon was way over-cooked. I sent it back and it came back better second time. Average quality and decent portion. Sautéed spinach was delicious
* service was spotty. Waiters were very eager and had good attitude but lacked some basic knowledge of restaurant etiquette, Eg couldn't understand why we were upset that out mains came before starter.

High Street has a number of western restaurants and Flying Pig is one of its newest additions. I do find that the restaurants from French Creations are of good quality, including this and Metropolitain. For the Lunchset, I ordered the tuna tartare, which was very fresh. Personally I really did like the tuna, but the salad for me was rather average. For mains, I ordered the pork ribs, which the portion was just right and the ribs cooked to perfection. 這家餐廳曾經是我覺得在西營盤無論是味道價錢都排在第一位的西餐廳,來過兩次吃都覺得非常贊,對他們的炸魚薯條更是念念不忘。中午同事們聚餐,大家都很期待去這家餐廳吃lunch! 但這次來味道和款式都讓我大跌眼鏡,相信短期內不會想來!我的set lunch頭盤點了Beef tartare. 碟上除了有beef tartare還有沙律和一塊麵包。這邊的生牛肉我覺得切得有點大塊,肉質比較瘦,而且很冷(解凍的不夠時間嗎),還蠻夠味道,但沒有什麼牛肉的香味,就吃在口裡不知道吃什麼那種感覺。僅有的一片麵包非常硬和乾,沙律菜有點酸不過還蠻新鮮開胃的。不是人人都能吃生牛肉,同事們點了是日例湯-番茄湯。湯很濃,味道有點太酸,有點像我們直接用來煮意粉的罐頭蕃茄汁那樣(驚)。主食我點了rib eye steak. 上次我來吃的時候也是叫牛扒,但是上來的完全和這次不一樣。之前是煎牛扒配薯條,味道很好。這次是兩小塊牛扒上面淋了辣汁,配烤小薯仔。牛肉本身蠻軟嫩的,火候也控制得剛剛好,切開可以看到鮮紅肉色。辣汁味道不算辣,也還可以。但是這兩樣東西放在一起就不是很搭,有點像東方味道但是又在吃西式牛扒的感覺。薯仔烤得剛好,有

上次我來吃的時候也是叫牛扒,但是上來的完全和這次不一樣。之前是煎牛扒配薯條,味道很好。這次是兩小塊牛扒上面淋了辣汁,配烤小薯仔。牛肉本身蠻軟嫩的,火候也控制得剛剛好,切開可以看到鮮紅肉色。辣汁味道不算辣,也還可以。但是這兩樣東西放在一起就不是很搭,有點像東方味道但是又在吃西式牛扒的感覺。薯仔烤得剛好,有薯仔味(這是廢話嗎哈哈)。同事在我盛情推薦下單獨點了fish and chips.這次魚炸得暗黃色,薯條看上去也有點黑和油,感覺非常對不起同事!因為我們上次來的炸魚薯條真的很好吃!甜點是Panna cotta (意大利凍奶)。我覺得有點太甜,而且吃起來像用奶粉開出來做的那種味道,有點奇怪。這次來覺得對這家餐廳失望了,價錢還是$98加一,但我覺得不值得,因為味道和以前差太遠,失望!

一直想到西營盤這個美食集中營看看,今天終於有機會了!來到高街,選擇實在太多了,我們一行二人便挑選了一間較為多人的餐廳,亦被Flying Pig這個特別名字吸引了。餐廳環境挺舒適,座位闊落,給予人一種悠閒寫意的感覺。 服務方面,侍應態度有禮,亦很週到。頭盤我們點了青蘋果沙律和是日餐湯各一。青蘋果沙律青新可口,有杏仁片點綴,整個沙律感覺沒那麼酸,但略嫌沙律醬多了一點。 是日餐湯是濃蕃茄湯,酸酸地好開胃。 主菜點了肉眼扒配黑松露汁,配菜有波菜和薯條。我們點了7成熟,但出來的是over cook,味道和質地均似一塊牛肉乾。我們跟侍應反映,廚房亦立刻跟進換了一塊juicy熱呼呼的7成熟牛扒給我們。醬汁比較稀,波菜味道不錯,與牛扒很夾。 另外一個main course是意式蕃茄醬海鮮扁意粉。這個實在是誠意之作,份量絕不野少,總供有5隻鮮甜的青口,4至5個魷魚圈。 午餐奉送甜品brownie,不過我認為這是朱古力蛋糕。。。 整體而然,這個價錢能吃到這個質素的食物,算是很抵吃的。有機會定會再來。

主菜點了肉眼扒配黑松露汁,配菜有波菜和薯條。我們點了7成熟,但出來的是over cook,味道和質地均似一塊牛肉乾。我們跟侍應反映,廚房亦立刻跟進換了一塊juicy熱呼呼的7成熟牛扒給我們。醬汁比較稀,波菜味道不錯,與牛扒很夾。

中午和同事在西營盤覓食,經過高街覺得這家餐廳不錯便走進去試試看。餐廳門口是開放式的,像現在這種回暖的天氣坐在室外吃飯非常舒適。裡面裝潢很西式,牆壁上有像用鉛筆畫的壁畫,很有特色,感覺像在外國的pub裡面吃東西。中午這邊有lunch set, 價錢HkD 98加1。前菜我選的是湯,而那天soup of the day是蘿蔔濃湯,紅蘿蔔味道不會太重,不會太鹹而且很濃,不錯!我點了Barramundi fish and chips. 外皮的炸醬炸得非常脆,不會太厚好像在麵粉那種感覺,同時又不會太油膩。魚肉用的是鱸魚魚柳,魚肉很新鮮而且超級滑,多汁不會乾。有一點點我覺得美中不足的是魚肉有點點魚惺味,但也不是太大問題。而薯條的份量也是超多的,足夠兩個人吃了吧。薯條是粗身的,剛剛炸好因為放到嘴裡還有熱氣騰騰的感覺!很脆很好吃✪ω✪最後甜點是個朱古力mousse.很結身朱古力味濃,配上放在上面新鮮的士多啤梨感覺整個lunch超美好!這家店價錢超親民,大家一定要去試試看他們的炸魚薯條哈哈!(。◕ˇ∀ˇ◕)

賣相ok,seafood算新(冰?)鮮,意粉al dente, 醬汁為普通蕃茄醬,即係你會喺大x樂食到嗰種…好彩都叫做有d Parmesan cheese叫做點綴下。

最後講service- 個 suckling pig 原碟有4大舊,我攞左1舊入自己碟,食左一囗,俾女友試左一口,其餘掂都無掂過。叫埋單時個manager順便收碟,無問過一句how's everything或d野食如何;見到自己嘅招牌菜近乎原封不動都無反應。咁嘅餐廳,我亦無謂點醒佢,永不光顧,完。

Given the name of the restaurant, one would expect a menu solely focused on pork but the diverse menu actually offers beef, lamb, fish and seafood so you can still enjoy the food here if you don't eat pork. Don't get me wrong though - the pork offerings are still the star here which is what I came here to try for lunch!

The Pigs Burger ($155) is one of the signatures here with slow cooked pulled pork, BBQ sauce, melted Swiss Cheese, coleslaw and fries. The pulled pork was soft and flavorful, and the secret was in the BBQ sauce which had Jack Daniels in it!

The Pork Knuckle ($245) with Dutch mashed potato, sauerkraut and pancetta came highly recommended and it definitely didn't disappoint with its crispy skin and extra tender meat! The big portion is meant to be shared so bring your friends when you want to try this.

Even though I was stuffed, I still had to try desserts and the Eton Mess ($78) with crisp white meringue, whipped cream and fresh strawberries turned out to be an excellent choice after our hearty meal as it was light and tart to eat!

She asked me for some suggestions for us to have dinner. After throwing out a bunch of suggestions of places I've tried and would return or places I wanted to try, she chose this place.

Flying Pig Bistro peaked my interest. Located on High Street, a street in Sai Ying Pun that has become more and more like Soho, Flying Pig Bistro was one of those new Soho type restaurants taking over the usual local landscape.

The restaurant was quite busy on a Sunday evening. Menu is in the form of the placemat and is only in English. The staff also only speak English. As there were five of us (her husband brought a friend), they cramped us into a small four people table despite my friend had reserved a table ahead of time. Lighting was by the light of a candle. Thus, my photos are so dark.

Dutch Mussels with Fries ($188). The mussels were cooked in a nice white wine sauce. There was a fair amount and enough for all to go around. Mussels were fresh. The fries were the large chunk kind and alright. Crispy exterior and soft interior. However, they were served with mayo/mustard sauce which is .... ok. I'm a ketchup and fries girl. This was so wrong for me. Why fancy up fries with a dipping sauce that doesn't work? Ketchup is always the way to go.

Classic Caesar Salad ($125). A fairly decent salad as every bit was dressed with the salad dressing without it being soaked. They served it with a few crunchy croutons, freshly grated Parmesan and crispy bacon. Yes, crispy bacon! However, the bacon was two long strips. I think I would have preferred they served it sliced up so you get bits of bacon with the lettuce instead of just eating one whole long piece of bacon on it own.

Organic Rib Eye Steak ($285). This is a completely shareable main as it is 500 oz. My friend's husband requested rare and it came out medium rare. He was disappointed but I pretty much expected it to come out medium rare. It came with two dipping sauces: green peppercorn and Bernaise. The dipping sauces were ... not that remarkable. I just ended up not dipping my steak in them at the end. It came with roasted vegetables that included zucchini and cherry tomatoes. However, I took one bite and it was drowned in salt. There was also a roasted piece of garlic that just needed a bit more time to roast because it was still a tad undercooked.

Pork Knuckle ($245). As this restaurant was named after a flying pig, we ordered a pork knuckle. This was also over salty. Meat was also dry. The skin was hard as a rock instead of crunchy. It came with a mashed potato that was mixed with carrot. This was a pretty disappoiting mash potato as it was not creamy enough and rather chunky. There was not one hint of butter, making me wonder if the chef here believes in using butter at all? They also ran out of sauerkraut (shocking as it was 7 PM!) so the staff let us substitute with another side. We chose sauteed mushrooms. Oddly, these were seriously underseasoned.

Seafood Linguine ($158). For this price, I expected my pasta sauce to have real depth with the taste of fresh herbs and seafood. Instead all I got was a very average tomato sauce with not much else. Seafood was alright. At least the pasta was cooked al dente.

Rather disppointing foodwise. However, staff was top notch. Clearing plates whenever asked and bringing out food in an appropriate manner (first appetizers and then mains when appetizers were finished). It's too bad the food was disappointing. Soho style food that is on par with some of the more average Soho places. But if it was in Soho, I probably would return as it's more convenient. However, as this is in Sai Ying Pun, I wouldn't really purposely make a trip to eat here again as there are still many unexplored options.
