Bayfare Social is always a popular restaurant when diners think of places to have lunch or dinner in Tsim Sha Tsui. Bayfare is located in the Rosewood Hotel, arguably my favourite hotel in Hong Kong. You can see the logo of Bayfare Social when you walk straight out of the elevator in Rosewood and the lovely bistro would be in your sight. For starters, we have selected Pulpo A La Gallega ($195), a very traditional tapas from Espana. As expected, it comes with a small plate which you may see a formality but trust me, there are plenty of Spain restaurants in HK that serve tapas in a big plate. The smell is fantastic and the pulpo, the octopus, is fresh. It would be a great dish to start the night but just the dish is a bit cold and the pulpo is a bit chewy in my liking. If the dish could be hotter and fresher, we would be clapping hands now.

For the main, we go for the medium seafood paellas ($350) and the half rotisserie yellow chicken ($288). We do understand Bayfare Social is not really aiming at fine dining but the dishes need not to be served when the starters are not really finished. Nevertheless, the paella still look great and the seafood on top is jumping to ask us to consume it. Overall, the taste is exceptional and the rice is cooked with high quality stock; salt is appropriate but one big disappointment is that, the chef did not “fry” the rice at the end. A perfect paella should have some crisp[y rice at the bottom as when you cook the rice in the medium heat all time, you should turn up the heat at the last few minutes to the pan and kind of deep fry your rice. Therefore, the paella is almost like an overcook risotto now. For the chicken, I would say it is the most disappointing dish for the night. I am not sure how long it lies on the window before it was served but the chicken is certainly cold. The meat is dry where you can only count the pesto sauce on the chicken to get some favour. The rosemary on top is ridiculous that it does not supplement with the chicken and you certainly can’t eat with the chicken and the rosemary.

We have ordered the churros to end our night and it was above average and worth to have a shot.

Well, I think it is truly disappointing. I am a fan of Rosewood and its restaurant where I expect entirely a high quality of service despite the restaurant is not aiming fine dining route. However, from the start of walking us to our seats to food order, it just gives a feeling that the staff was distracted and not focusing on serving us. It spent a long time to ask the waitress to have our order taken, a long time to get things sorted and just hard to gain attention from the staff. I understand there is a dining time limit but you just don't throw the check to our table and told us time’s up where no one is even queuing the table. We just saw the staff were chit-chatting with each other and just ignore us when we wanted to order our dessert. Overall, it was not a good experience in terms of service.

Why I would call Bayfare Social as bistro is mainly because of their table setting. They have small tables, which are understandable if they are serving mainly tapas. However, it would get a bit clumsy when all the food including starters and main dish are served in similar time. The space within tables are sufficient but the chairs are just too short for eating in my opinion. Please do not expect a stunning sea view from Bayfare as it was blocked by the balcony outside. It might be better for the sofa seats but I could not comment on as we were not arranged to the sofa.
 
Overall, if you would like to have a causal dinner, Bayfare Social is definitely a great place to go. However, if you are on some celebration thing, I’d recommend you to visit Henry, the Dining Room or even Chaat inside Rosewood Hotel HK.

As a starter, I ordered a mix board (small) and steak tartare, along with a bottle of sparkling wine. The food and drink were served within 15 minutes, and the steak tartare was fresh and soft, complementing the dish were the toasts being served on the side. The mix board was also of decent quality, with the iberico ham being the highlight.

As I had already eaten a light bite before arriving at the restaurant, I didn't order any main dishes like steak, sea bass, or pork. However, the iberico pork loin looked tempting and juicy from the other table, and I plan to try it on my next visit.

After the starters, I ordered some tapas to pair with the sparkling wine, including grilled octopus, ox tripes, and meatballs. The grilled octopus was marinated in olive oil and garlic, with mashed potato underneath that complemented the delicate flavor of the crispy octopus.

The ox tripes had a juicy texture with gravy and a tender texture that required some chewing but was appropriate. I personally enjoyed it, but my partner found the rich meaty flavor to be a little too much.

The meatballs were a pleasant surprise, made of iberico pork, beef, and potatoes. They tasted much better than most Swedish meatballs but were a bit heavy. You may want to rethink ordering this if you have other main dishes in mind, or unless you have a big appetite.

Overall, the portion size of each tapa was larger than expected, providing great value for money and decent taste. I would rate my experience a 7.5 out of 10.

上到檯啱啱好 中間仲有少少粉紅 肉質又唔會太老 味道不過有少少鹹 反而唔沾牛油比較好食

依個飯上檯都嚇親我地 用大煎盤上 上面鋪左虎蝦 蜆 同魷魚賣相幾好 而且經理好細心叫我地小心唔好掂到 因為好熱
飯底好怕西班牙飯放太多水令到太濕 但依度唔會啱啱好 而且味道唔會太重

📍Bayfare Social First time at Bayfare Social for their weekend brunch menu. Similar to Holt’s Cafe, it started with a seafood platter. It consisted of Boston lobster, tiger prawns and oysters. The half of a Boston lobster is a bit too little to share. The oysters’ quality is top notch! First time at Bayfare Social for their weekend brunch menu. Similar to Holt’s Cafe, it started with a seafood platter. It consisted of Boston lobster, tiger prawns and oysters. The half of a Boston lobster is a bit too little to share. The oysters’ quality is top notch! Then we have the Scallop Tiradito, the Escabeche Dressing and Avocado were all a bit overpowering on the scallop.

The tapas were iberico ham croquetas, peppers with sea salt and chorizo braised in cider. They were fine but overall a bit over seasoned.

For the mains, the suckling pig was a bit of a let down as the skin was not crispy but actually quite tough. The seafood paella was ok but also a bit over seasoned.

We finished off with some churros.

Overall, I prefer Holt’s Cafe’s brunch. Better book for table instead of bar table as it’s not comfy to sit on a high chair for brunch.

Price: HK$660 pp (Brunch)

今日跟朋友慶生,點了一個set lunch ,另外叫了tunatartare, 好好味大快朵頤。然後叫了burning cheese cake to celebrate my friend’s bday,芝士蛋糕都好好味。環境靚,waitress亦十分專業和有禮貌,本來用餐時間只是兩小時,但因人不多,所以就讓我們坐至離開,我和朋友就可傾個夠,很盡興。Bayfare Social給了她一個難忘的生日, thank you so much💙🩵💜🩷🧡❤️

今次朋友話想食d 特別既菜色又想食西班牙海鮮飯咁就簡左食西班牙菜,呢間Bayfare Social真係好高質,地方環境又好有格調,不愧為於rosewood 酒店既質素。大家如果有咩節日紀念日想去間特別既餐廳呢間就真係一點都不失禮。食左吞拿魚他他 、西班海鮮飯 、吉拿棒 ,由於兩個女仔食唔到好多野,menu 入面好多野都好想食,但怕叫太多食唔晒🥲都係下次再黎試。食物味道真係好唔錯,份量都好夠兩個女仔食。下次真係要再黎試埋其他野。食物環境服務等等呢度都無野可以挑剔,值得推薦。
