Ngan Ho Fast Food Shop is a Hong Kong-style cafe. As far as the service of the restaurant is concerned, the waitresses were very efficient. Only two waitresses were handling the ordering and payments from all customers during the busiest lunchtime. Even so, they were very friendly and attentive when serving the customers. In terms of decoration, the walls are covered with menus. There is no English menu as they mainly serve the locals. In terms of decoration, the walls are covered with menus. There is no English menu as they mainly serve the locals. In general, the decoration is very old-fashioned, old-style cha chaan teng, outdated but very nostalgic.
For the food, I ordered Char Siu Fired Egg Rice because it's a dish recommended by the chef; There were quite a lot of char siu and egg. Unfortunately, the quality of the char siu wasn't good as it didn't have that slightly burnt honey arona. Also, the fat in the middle of char siu hasn't been handled well, which made me feel rather uncomfortable. Compared with the char siu sold in siu mei shops, the char siu here lacks sweetness and aroma; the meat wasn't very firm. For the fried egg, it was average and the rice was hard. For the drink, I had lemon tea because lemon tea can best represent the quality of drinks at a cha chaan teng. The amount of lemon tea was slightly less than I expected and the taste was rather mild.
To sum up, Ngan Ho Fast Food Shop is a traditional Hong Kong-style cafe with dim lighting and nostalgic decoration. The good thing is, the meal mentioned above only costs HK$45, so many students can afford that.
