夜晚黎到蓬萊咖哩屋歎番個印度烤餅真係唔錯,依句係我朋友講既。我從來都唔會係元朗食飯,因為我住好遠,原來依到有個好處朋友話係依邊區食飯通常唔使訂位同係點使等位,即興去邊到食都得,岩晒我地即興人士。呢間咖哩屋個晚都幾多印度人係到食飯,而且多數既伙記都係印度人,煮個個都應該係印度人,應該都正宗印尼咖哩。今晚得兩個人食,當然食二人餐,因為方便唔洗諗嘛。前菜就有咖哩角,之後係烤雞、咖哩羊肉配印度烤餅同一個印度炒飯,最後仲有清炒白菜仔,果然夠多野食。好味道呀印度烤雞,加埋檸檬汁之後真係好好食,烤過既雞肉仲要係鮮嫩,真係少見少見,食印度菜當然食咖哩,因為一齊既朋友同好鍾意食辣既人,所以就叫左辣咖哩。真係好正,不過都夠辣,羊肉又唔會太騷,送埋烤餅都一流,果然唔錯

同朋友兩個人,都嗜辣,所以就去試食呢間印度野。叫了一客巴辣羊,咖哩雞同兩客NANNAN都好食,夠鬆軟巴辣羊,侍應提醒我地會好辣,我地都無有怕。但...真係除左辣,就咩味都無,我諗,無論係羊定雞,食落都無分別...咖哩雞要了中辣,但辣味同巴辣羊相若,無咩分別......對我黎講,真係失望,因為無個d香辣甘既味,就只得一味,一點層次也沒有~~好在有同事的8折咭,令成件事變得好一D~~~

Second time in 2 weeks for this humble looking curry house in the residential area of Yuen Long. This time for its heralded Indian curry. I arrived around 6:00pm which I thought was early to avoid the pilgrims in shoals later at night. I ordered totally different things this time, an Indian Style Curried Beef Brisket, a Keema Nan (Nan stuffed with minced lamb meat), and a Allo Chaac (potato salad). The starter came first which was actually what I had encountered for the set lunch a week ago, which was still so refreshing particularly the pale green mint paste for the crispy biscuit.

The curried beef brisket then came, although I would have loved it more had it been at a higher temperature the curry tasted so good, so aromatic with tinge of herb I didn't know the name of, gorgeous Indian curry all must try! The beef brisket in the curry was a bit disappointing, first of all I didn't like it diced in too small pieces, and I thought it was a bit overdone and as a result a discernible faltering in tenderness and taste of beef!

The Keema Nan was a great thing, as the staple of the dinner the baked Nan retained the fragrant of flour and the minced lamb meat stuffed inside tasted so great with a velvet texture, it will be a must for my future visit!

The Alloo Chaac (potato salad) came last, it was immediately understandable as it was so meticulously prepared and looked so beautiful! There were diced tomato, cucumber and potato in a red sour dressing and garnished by sprinkle of herbs on top. The veggies were all very fresh, the cooked potato was starchy, albeit lacking in the great taste of potato.

A rainly afternoon around 2 o'clock wandering in the street of Yuen Long, this humble looking restaurant finally came to my sight, since not many people inside off the peak hour, I found a place near the entrance at once. It was the soup that came first, It seemed to be made of rice, quite thick, with a few chicken dices and mushroom inside. It tasted very good, the chicken really had the taste of fresh chicken, yummy!

A sheet of crispy pancake then came, I asked the waitress how to serve it and she told me to crumble and dip it into the two dressing that had came with it, the green one was made of mint, and the pink one was made of a plant like small onion, both were very refreshing and they might well serve as starter for the main course.

The grilled lamb came at last, with a pancake cut into four served with it. The lamb was quite disappointing as it was not tender and juicy, although I could still get the fresh taste of lamb, the pancake served as staple was not salty as I had expected, quite bulky to feed up a big man like me.

The Garden Salad was very fresh indeed for all types of vegetable like lettuce, beef tomato, purple onion, cucumber and even carrot! Frankly speaking I'm not quite comfortable with fresh vegetable without salad dressing, anyway I love it because it is so healthy.

I came here on a weekday knowing full well that it got pretty crowded. They told us there was a private party in the restaurant, but they sat us in a side room (you had to exit the building and go next door into what looked like what used to be a doctor's waiting room. The space was cramped, and it was easy to overhear the other tables (luckily no-one talks in English, so I'm unbothered by it). Still, it was nice of them to seat us somewhere rather than just telling us "Sorry, the whole restaura

Still, it was nice of them to seat us somewhere rather than just telling us "Sorry, the whole restaurant's rented out... go somewhere else!"

One of the other reviewers said that the waitstaff was all Indian. I won't say that's racist necessarily... but it's certainly a little dense. There are lots of hints that the restaurant is owned and operated by Nepali. First, there are Nepalese dishes on the menu, and Nepalese beer. Second, there's a big mural of the Himalayas on the wall and the place is called "Shangri La Curry House". Third, there are awards on the wall from the Hong Kong Nepalese Society (or something like that). And finally, their facebook page says "Owned by Mr. Krishna Khadka, a Nepali resident in Hong Kong, Shangri La Curry House HK is a traditional Nepali/ Indian cuisine restaurant located in a New Territory of Yuen Long". So no, the waitstaff is not Indian, they're Nepali.

Moving on... here's what we had.

First, there were free poppadums that came with a white mint/ coriander chutney and some sort of pickle. I want to guess "pickled carrot" but I couldn't really tell. Anyway, I thought the poppadums were flavorful, if not as crunchy as I like; the chutney was very good; and the pickle was also pretty good... not nearly as sour as some Indian pickles one finds.

For an appetizer we ordered some samosas. They weren't very big, but that's a good thing-- I like having room for the rest of my food when the appetizer is done. The crust was crunchy and flaky but also chewy... perfectly done. The filling I thought was a little bland, but luckily I had all this great chutney on the table that I could drizzle over the samosa. I'd say... 7/10

We got two main dishes, a lamb saagwala and aloo gobi. Saagwala (also called 'saag') is a Punjabi specialty, which is sometimes too bitter for me (when its made with mustard greens, for instance), but can also be creamy and delicious. This time I thought it was pretty plain. The lamb had been cooked in a tandoor and this imparted a very 'smoky' flavor to the dish that sort of overpowered whatever other subtler flavors it might have had. I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't have it again. 5/10

The aloo gobi was a real treat. In the past, I think every aloo gobi I've had has been 'dry'-- not a lot of sauce or no sauce at all. This was more of a curry aloo gobi, with a spicy gravy and lots of crunchy minced veggies (scallions and that sort). It had a nice level of spice (we asked for "very spicy"), a tasty sauce, and a nice texture (firm potatoes and cauliflower, crunchy smaller bits, and a silky sauce). I was a fan. 9/10

We had naan and rice too. The naan was denser than I'm used to... it was more like the scallion pastries you get at the bakeries around here. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good at a sopping up the sauce. Maybe 5/10. The rice was better. Plenty of peas, which I'm big on. 7/10.

In summary, I thought the food was good but not great. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. I'm definitely going to go back here because so many people have recommended it to me and it has such great reviews. I think you can get better Indian in TST, but if Yuen Long is closer to you (or you live there) this place is pretty good. 7/10
題外話/補充資料: I gave low scores to "environment" and "service" at this place because they stuck me in the "dentist's office room" and there often weren't servers around to help us. I feel it's necessary to give low scores to be honest, but I should tell you that it's likely that your trip will be much better.

we arrived there at around 830pm, it was very full, so we needed to wait for around 20-30 mins. so better book in advnace @@ seems that it 's a family business. all of the waiters/waitresses are indian. not sure if they know chinese as we talked to them in english. mango lassi: i like yoghurt drinks!!! but there were too many ice cubes inside and the portion was a bit too small. $24garlic naan: again, the portion was a bit too small. i can't taste the garlic flavour and it was a bit too oily t

prawn curry: this is the type of curry i like, indian curry! but it was not spicy at all (the waitress asked us how spicy we wanted when we ordered dishes, and i said not too spicy, so perhaps they gave us the one that was not spicy at all @@). but there weren't too many prawns inside and the prawn didn't have any flavour.... $108 (i forget the price actually)

wanna try their lamb dishes next time as they wrongly gave us the tandoori chicken instead of tandoori lamb chop. anyway, they were quite poilte and efficient.

食印度菜梗要食咖哩,因為是晚同一個食唔辣既人共晉晚餐,被迫點左中辣咖哩。依然正呀~~~夠辣,羊肉又唔會騷,送飯或者係薄餅都一流,食得開懷唔止因為咖哩好食,仲有坐在對面的友人一邊食一邊用紙巾不停抹汗既樣子好好笑。

熱度一般, 但頗大塊, 配上咖喱汁不錯.

這個餐還有兩杯飲品, 一杯是凍檸茶, 一杯是印度奶茶, 檸檬茶與港式不同尤其茶味最明顯但仍可接受, 但奶茶就真是不能接受了
味道怪怪得很啊~~~~~~~~~完全不過再飲下去, 還剩下4/5份量!!!!!!!!!!!!!

整體來說還可以但今次最想吃的咖喱角沒有試下次一定會再來. 和下之不再叫餐了, 可能散叫會比較合心水, 另外飲品方面真是要 好好的選擇啊~可能印度式口味是這樣我不是說不正宗, 只是我們真的接受不來.
看到整間餐廳的裝修、待應及廚師都是十分印度的, 真是有如置身於印度一樣, 元朗不是太多印度餐廳如果要這區的印度餐廳那一些好吃, 我會推介蓬箂, 結帳時還有八五折卡, 真好了, 咖喱角可享用八五折

**其實我地估應該係落單果時老細聽錯左, 以為我地要鐵板雞 only, 不過都好好味呀, 唯有下次再試嚕 =)
到紅咖哩牛肉, 顏色吸引, 牛肉正正!!!!
- 呢個咖哩對我地 3 個嗜辣之人, 可以講係唔辣>微辣 only, 但係味道真係好好, 送飯真係一流!! 由其想提下隻牛, 炆得又淋又入味, 真係入口溶化!!

好耐冇食過蓬萊咖哩屋了!呢日同一個朋友來食lunch!其實之前幫襯都是因為學校在附近,間唔中都會來食lunch當時學生餐係$28,今次見到set lunch menu最平都要$45其實真係幾貴,但又想再重溫一下呢度既咖哩,所以就照食了先有前菜,胡椒味既脆片,拌綠色酸酸地既汁,ok!幾開胃!同以前味道一樣!然後是餐湯,有點似忌廉湯但又冇咁杰同咸,裡面有少少細細粒既雞肉,不錯主菜我揀左咖哩羊肉配nan,中辣d羊肉好un,好難先咬得開,但味道唔錯份量不多,4舊size適中的羊肉其實對我黎講,重頭戲係Nan,可以講我係為左Nan而來的上菜時nan bread熱烘烘,本身已經香軟,配上咖哩汁口感更好!朋友叫既係咖哩牛肉,小辣佢d牛肉唔似我d羊肉咁一件件好完整,反而係細細舊同埋比較碎而顏色方面佢小辣比較黃,我的中辣則比較橙,唔覺得辣既程度有很大的差別最後要講我杯熱咖哩用一個好細既壺仔裝住咖啡,將糖同埋奶分開上可以自己調味,不錯,咖啡本身都好香每次想到set lunch的食物完全一模一樣,但是價錢卻由$28變到$45,真係覺得好大分別不過冇辦法,再不是中學生,說不定有一天可以同舊同學一齊穿回校服幫襯

佢d牛肉唔似我d羊肉咁一件件好完整,反而係細細舊同埋比較碎
而顏色方面佢小辣比較黃,我的中辣則比較橙,
唔覺得辣既程度有很大的差別

最後要講我杯熱咖哩
用一個好細既壺仔裝住咖啡,將糖同埋奶分開上
可以自己調味,不錯,咖啡本身都好香


每次想到set lunch的食物完全一模一樣,
但是價錢卻由$28變到$45,真係覺得好大分別
不過冇辦法,再不是中學生,說不定有一天可以同舊同學一齊穿回校服幫襯過

it seems a bit mystery since we could really look through outside. However , the interior was surprisingly not bad . nice atmosphere!we tried many dishes , all are tasty!The naan bread with creamy green curry source was nice! the bread was not greasy The vegetable fried rice was of nothing special but became delicious when severed with curry source !The chicken / lamb makhani were nice also well with source. ( its all about source !)i didn't try mango lassi coz i dont drink cold , but my friend

又要係元朗搵野食,大王提意呢道,好有歷史既印度咖哩。起初大王驚間鋪太舊會好污漕,但坐低又唔覺,都OK光猛。跟佢貼起蔡蘭張poster叫咗個濃腰果汁牛肉,燒鷄翼、泥泊爾餃子再加印度黃飯。先黎既係黑糊椒薄餅+酸洋葱醬+薄荷醬,同外間既餅一樣﹐香脆又有黑糊椒味,大王特別歡喜酸洋葱醬,直頭就咁食啲洋葱添。濃腰果汁牛肉,只有少少辣,比想像中温和,但都好濃味,配上印度黃飯就好好味。泥泊爾餃子,餃子普通,但係附上既辣醬就好好味,餃子再加上辣醬,真係好正!!!最有驚喜既係鐵板燒鷄翼,熱辣辣咁上,有炭燒既氣味,微辣,係近期既佳作!!!!埋單$210, 幾抵食,會同大王再黎食!!!跟住買埋生果返屋企睇大結局…….
