Have been wanting to try this pasta shop as I've seen it popped up on Instagram a few times. The interior is simple and clean, with a semi-open kitchen. Confit duck leg Spanish tortilla $128🍳The egg tortilla has an umami and roasty flavour to it, similar to roast goose. The potatoes in the tortilla are sliced relatively thick, and was not stacked very packed together, hence, the centre ended up being quite runny, while the edges are well-cooked. It would've been nicer, texture wise, if more potatoes (thinly sliced) were added to the tortilla to soak up all the egg mixture. The addition of confit duck is interesting and may not be for everyone. While I liked the smokiness of it, my friend thinks it was too salty and over-powering😅. I also wished they used another sauce as the topping as it was a bit heavy, would've been great for something to cut off the savouriness of the dish. Crispy black gnocchi with octopus $168🍽️This dish came with a side of potato foam. The gnocchi were fried nicely, with an airy texture to it, in contrast to the gnocchi I usually taste. The potato foam does not have a strong flavour to it but goes well with the dish to cut off some of the fattiness. The dish was also heavily seasoned, as it got a bit salty towards the end.🧂 White Bolognese Buccatini $178🍝The dish smelled really strong, probably from the cheese, when it was served. The white sauce was nice and not too thick with the addition of bread crumbs for the texture. Personally, not a big fan of white sauce pasta nonetheless it was good. I also liked the pasta they chose, which had a nice al dente bite and clings onto the sauce well.Overall a nice neighbourhood restaurant but seasoning are quite heavy across all 3 dishes. Sooner is a chill cafe with unique foods and a nice comfy atmosphere.As a chill, European style cafe, Sooner offers unique foods that distinguish it from its many competitors. It's got some tasty twists to old pasta favorites, like White Bolognese and Crispy Black Gnocchi.The mocha I had is nothing special, and its unique twist on tiramisu is worth a try, but not to my taste.It is also open rather late, at 12pm, making the kitchen a bit overwhelmed during the inevitable lunch rush.Still, each dish is competently presented. What a charming little cafe! 🤍🤍 The prices are incredibly reasonable considering the delicious food they offer. I can’t wait to return! The waitress mentioned they update their menu every season, which is such a thoughtful touch. 🥰 It's wonderful to see a restaurant embrace seasonal ingredients. Food:You absolutely must try their gnocchi and burrata! ❤️ The size of their pasta is good for 2-3 people, deliciously filling!
