I made a reservation through Openrice 10 days ago for my dad’s birthday dinner. I noticed that there were quite a few table seats in the restaurant and I had made a remark on the booking stating that the meal would be a birthday celebration.My family and I arrived at the restaurant on time but the waiter gave me 4 crowded bar seats. I asked if a table could be given to us as it was supposed to be a birthday meal.The staff alleged that I did not mention the reservation was for a birthday celebration when I made the booking. However, when we asked that he double check our booking details on his laptop, we found that it was indeed stated on our reservation and the staff asked us to wait for a table after I pointed it out to him.Another staff came to me and told me it would be difficult to secure any table for us. He mentioned that I did not confirm my booking when the restaurant tried to call me, which was not true as I confirmed my booking via phone call in the afternoon the same day.Eventually, the staff told me we had to wait for a small table as all tables were full at the moment, emphasising that guests who had table seats had made their bookings one or two months ago.My family and I left the restaurant without eating as it was a horrible experience. None of the staff had tried to solve the problem nor apologize for their bad arrangement.
